Richard Sherman Calls Out Saints’ Lack Of Effort Hinting At Dennis Allen’s Possible Firing

Dennis Allen was named the 17th head coach of the New Orleans Saints franchise.

American professional football coach Dennis Allen is under increasing pressure to be fired after the team lost to the Denver Broncos.

Dennis James Allen, 52, born on September 22, 1972, is the head coach of the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL).

Highlights

  • Richard Sherman said all the Orlean’s players played like they wanted their coach to get fired.
  • There is no official announcement that Dennis Allen has been fired.
  • Dennis Allen has a net worth of around $20 million.

He started his coaching career at Texas A&M as a graduate assistant coach under his former coach, R.C. Slocum.

Holding that position from 1996 to 1999, he worked mainly with the secondary while pursuing a master’s degree in kinesiology from the Texas A&M College of Education.

Moreover, he served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2012 to 2014.

He previously coached for the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and the University of Tulsa.

In 2022, Allen was promoted to head coach of the Saints after spending the previous seven seasons as the team’s defensive coordinator.

Head Coach Dennis Allen Responded To Suggestion That New Orleans’ Players Want Him To Be Fired

Fans have criticized Dennis Allen for his team’s poor performance this season. Despite this, he stated he is not concerned with his job security.

On an evening when the team honored its Super Bowl MVP quarterback into the franchise Hall of Fame, the Saints were humiliated by former head coach Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos.

During halftime of the New Orleans Saints’ loss to the Denver Broncos, the former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman said he thought the players were competing like they wanted their coach fired.

Football cornerback Richard Sherman said,

“I’m confused,” “I’m perplexed. They don’t want to tackle, they don’t want to make plays, these are good players. Tyrann Mathieu is a good player and (dropped) the easiest interception of his life.”

Later, on October 17, 2024, at Thursday’s press conference, Dennis Allen responded to Sherman’s first commenter saying,

However, the part of Sherman’s segment that went viral came after he said,

“I don’t understand this,” “It seems like they want to get their coach fired. That’s the effort.”

The follow-up question to Richard’s question about the Saints’ effort was a direct question about the team playing like they wanted Allen fired: Is the state of his job a concern for him?

Allen answered, “No.” The Saints have lost five games in a row and have more than a handful of key players injured, something Allen pointed out multiple times, but he also wanted to clarify that he wasn’t citing the alignments as excuses.

Moreover, Spencer Rattler started his second game on October 17, 2024, but backup Jake Haener finished the night and threw New Orleans’ lone touchdown. Allen said,

“We have to stand up and lead,” “We’re the only ones who’s going to get us out of here. It’s not like there’s a draft in the middle of the season, there’s no one coming to be our savior.”
