Tanner McKee’s parents, father Jeremie McKee and mother Layna McKee are by his side throughout his professional journey and personal struggles.
When McKee was 16 in 2016, Tanner’s mother noticed a large mole growing and changing on his forehead.
The NFL player was aware of the moles but ignored them. He had many moles on his body and did not think it was a big deal.
However, his mother insisted he see a dermatologist to get multiple moles biopsied. All his moles came back negative, the one on his forehead.
He was diagnosed with skin cancer known as melanoma. Later, Jeremie Mckee revealed that it runs in the family. Earl McKee, Tarner’s great-grandfather, lost his battle with the disease in his early 60s.
After the surgery, the mole was successfully removed, and doctors decided to take extra precautions by removing two lymph nodes from Tanner’s neck.
Throughout the phase, while he was struggling with the illness, his father, Jeremie, and his mother, Layna, were by his side.
While indulging in cancer and when in the process of recovery, Tanner McKee mentioned his family’s faith is what kept him motivated.

Tanner McKee and his three siblings, Alexa, Caden, and Kayla McKee, lived in Irvine, California.
His older sister, Kayla McKee Cuvelier, attended Santiago High School in Corona, California, and is married to Cameron Cuvelier. They have a son, who was born in 2022.
Furthermore, his younger sister, Alexa McKee, is a business psychology major who studied at UC San Diego. She previously studied at Brigham Young University and now works as her alma mater.
Similarly, his younger brother, Caden McKee, was a member of the class of 2023 and played high school football for Centennial at California High School.
He currently lives in Guatemala City, Guatemala, as a missionary. It has been one year since his mission, and he will complete it in September 2025.
