Jaguars head coach Liam Coen has hired Anthony Campanile, the Green Bay Packers’ linebackers coach and run game coordinator, as the team’s new defensive coordinator.

In a statement, Liam Coen said,
Campanile has spent the past five seasons as an NFL assistant coach, first as the Miami Dolphins’ linebackers coach and then with the Packers last season.
This past season, the Packers ranked 7th in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 99.4 yards per game and 3rd in the league in yards per carry (4.0).
In Campanile’s four seasons in Miami, the Dolphins gave up an average of 4.2 yards per carry (10th in the NFL) and 106.4 yards per game rushing, the sixth-best mark in that span.
Campanile spent six seasons as a high school coach in New Jersey, including five seasons at Don Bosco Prep, three as defensive coordinator, and two as offensive coordinator, before joining Rutgers as a defensive assistant in 2012.
He also spent three seasons at Boston College and one at Michigan before joining Brian Flores’ Miami Dolphins Staff.
Anthony Campanile’s Parents Has Always Been Supportive To Him
The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, 32, was born on August 18, 1992, in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, to his father, Mike, and his mother, Maura Campanile.
Although Anthony was raised in the United States, his ancestors were originally from Italy. Therefore, Anthony and his family hold Italian-American ethnicity.
Anthony grew up watching his father, Mike, coach at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey for around 10 years.
His father, Mike, inspired him to pursue his career as a football coach.
Mike was born a righty in the Bronx and migrated west to Fair Lawn, N.J. when he was 11.
He taught himself to throw lefty to execute a play that required him to roll around the left hand.
He played tailback and linebacker in high school, didn’t finish college, and played quarterback in a men’s tackle league.
In that league, he was hit by Gerard Jordan, a longshoreman, due to which he received stitches, but he hurried back from the hospital to throw two touchdowns and win by a point.
On the other hand, Anthony’s mother, Maura, served as a legal secretary for 20 years before working in the dialysis unit of Hackensack University Medical Center for over 30 years.
According to Maura’s Facebook handle, she is originally from Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
Anthony Campanile Grew Up With His Three Brothers
Anthony Campanile has three brothers, Vito, Nick, and Nunzio Campanile, who followed in their father’s footsteps as football coaches.
Vito, 51, was born in 1974 in New Jersey, United States.
He is a Fair Lawn native who was a standout quarterback at Paramus Catholic. He threw for a then-state record 6,702 yards and 55 touchdowns during his career.
His coaching career began at Rutherford High School in 2001, where he worked as the offensive coordinator under John DePalma.
Nunzio, 48, was born in 1977 and is currently the quarterbacks coach at Syracuse University.
He served as the interim head coach at Rutgers University for the final eight games of the 2019 season.
Nick Campanile currently serves as the head football coach at DePaul Catholic High School.
