Kevin has said one of his proudest moments was when Richard graduated from Stanford University. He added,
As a teenager, Kevin was shot three times. He lost his right eye as a 14-year-old when the go-kart he was building blew up in his face. Later, his pickup truck was also hit by a train.

Later, she worked at California Children’s Services for 32 years, where she co-operated with the families of children with severe medical and disabling conditions.
