However, the Seahawks announced that he wouldn’t return to his position on January 6, 2025. On Monday morning, Mike and the Seahawks decided that Ryan’s job wasn’t safe after they missed the playoffs.
The head coach was dissatisfied with the lack of balance on offense, which cost the offensive coordinator his job.
It’s really as simple as just I felt like the direction our offense was gong was different than the vision that I had for our team, and it felt like it was just a necessary decision at this point.
Mike Macdonald
Mike mentioned that the search for Ryan’s replacement would begin immediately, and Jake Peetz is the most experienced member of the Seahawks’ offensive staff, among the potential in-house options.
The Seahawks are looking for the right fit for the type of person who will come in and lead their offense. They are looking for an alignment and a shared vision for how they want to operate.
Furthermore, they finished the 2024 season 28th in rushing (95.7 yards per game) and 18th in points per game (22.1).
