Detroit Lions Safety, Brian Branch Divorced Parents Clarence Branch III And Sharon Branch Played A Key Role In His NFL Career

Clarence Branch III was a standout high school football player.

Football player Brian Branch has always been encouraged by his parents to pursue his dreams.

As if the Detroit Lions didn’t have enough injury issues on the defensive side of the ball, they have another during the Week 14 game against the Green Bay Packers with safety Brian Branch.

Highlights

  • Brian Branch suffered a leg injury during the match against the Green Bay Packers.
  • Branch was born to his father, Clarence Branch III, and his mother, Sharon Branch.
  • He grew up with his sister Madeline and three elder brothers, Steven, Malcolm, and Christian Branch.

Branch had a phenomenal season and suffered an apparent leg injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s December 5, 2024, game.

According to the broadcast, the Lions defensive back was getting his calf worked on while on the bench before he suffered the injury, so that could be what is bothering him.

After staying down on the field and getting checked out by trainers, he could walk off the field under his power.

Due to cramping, Brian is now listed as questionable to return to the Week 14 game.

While it remains to be seen if Branch will return, it’s good news that he is only dealing with cramping.

Brian Branch’s Parents Divorced When He Was Very Young

The Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch, 23, was born on October 22, 2001, in Fayetteville, GA, to his father, Clarence Branch III, and his mother, Sharon Branch.

His father, Clarence, was a standout high school football player in New York who later entered the military instead of playing college football.

Health circumstances prevented Clarence from continuing to be a part of Brian’s life, including watching his son become one of the country’s top-rated safeties in the 2020 high school class.

Sadly, his father, Clarence Branch III, passed away on March 20, 2019. In August 2019, Brian tweeted,

“My dad has never been to one of my football games,” . “it’s messing me up in the inside”

Brian’s biography on Twitter now displays, “R.I.P Dad.”

On the other hand, his mother, Sharon, has been avoiding the media, so only limited information about her personal life is available.

Sadly, Brian’s parents separated when Brian was young. The exact reason for the divorce has not been made public.

When Clarence was sick, Sharon played a significant role in the family.

She was not a fan of any particular college football team, but Alabama’s frequent appearance on the national stage gave her some leanings.

On January 17, 2020, Sharon congratulated her son Brian through Twitter as he was selected for Atlanta’s 2019 Defensive All-Star Team. She wrote,

Sooo very proud of you @BrianBB_1. Congrats on your selection to the #TDClubAtlanta 2019 Defensive All-Star Team

Brian Branch And His Family Have A History With Africa

Although Brian Branch and his entire family live in the United States, his ancestors had a deep-rooted history with Africa.

Therefore, they are American nationals and African-American ethnics. Brian and his family follow American and African cultures and festivals.

Brian grew up with his one older sister, Madeline, and three older brothers, Steven, Malcolm, and Christian Branch.

Earlier, Christian offered Brian a heartfelt message after he was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. In a pre-recorded video, Christian said,

On behalf of Mom, myself, Madeline, Steven, Malcolm, and you know, just your friends and family just want to say that we’re all very proud of you and we are behind you 100%,”

After hearing his name called on Day 2 of the NFL draft, Brian watched the video. He admitted that he nearly cried while watching.

Follwing his brother’s message, Branch had his won words for Christian, which the NFL recorded. Brian said,

“Thankful for everything that he did for me,” Branch said about Christian. “He was like another father, mentor to me. Just taught me the ins and out … taught me how to kind of be a man, in a way.”

He explained that he looked up to Christian on the football field and learned from his brother how to develop a strong work ethic.

However, Brian’s sister Madeline and two elder brothers have avoided the media spotlight.
