After three years of completed legal struggle, she was granted a legal name and gender change in February 2023.
Moreover, the change came after a six-month court battle with Zaya’s mother, Dwyane’s ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches.
Apparently, Funches objected to Wade’s petition to change their daughter’s name and gender legally. She claimed that Wade pressured Zaya and then Zion to change their name and gender.

The couple reached a $5 million divorce settlement and finalized their divorce in 2010.
