Wrestling Coach Luke Wise’s Family Grieves His Passing from Brain Cancer, Leaving His Wife, Amanda, And Three Daughters

Luke met Amanda at Sterling College in 2011, and they married in 2013.

Plainville, Kansas: Luke Wise, a wrestling coach, battled a very aggressive form of glioma cancer since 2023 and passed away in February 2025.

His wife, Amanda Wise, and their three daughters survive him.

Luke wrestled for over two decades and became the 2002 State Champion in Kansas. He transitioned into a coaching role and, in 2024, won the regional coach of the year award for the Plainsville High School 4-1A Girls.

He greatly supported wrestling in various ways, and the Kansas Wrestling Association congratulated him in 2024 with the Cody Lambotte Courage in Coaching Award.

Unfortunately, his cancer diagnosis changed his life, and he gave up on wrestling. His battle with brain cancer and untimely demise left a significant impact on his family, friends, and the wrestling community.

Luke studied Christian ministry at Sterling College and earned a Master of Ministry: Pastoral Leadership at Olivet Nazarene University.

He has been the lead pastor at Ark City Church of the Nazarene since May 2018 and the senior pastor at Plainville Nazarene Church since June 2021. His faith was unshakeable.

Pastor Luke Wise was welcomed to heaven this morning by Jesus. Please pray for Amanda and his three girls. It was an honor to become friends with such a great man. My heart hurts for them and the Plainville community. Keep them all in your prayers.

Luke Wise’s Family Mourns The Tragic Loss

Luke Wise was a much-loved and legendary wrestling coach who positively impacted the program.

The wrestling community and his family are grieving the loss of a beloved coach, husband, and father.

Luke met his wife, Amanda Wise, at Sterling College in 2011, and they began dating shortly after. The lovebirds engaged in 2012 and married in 2013.

Amanda is a 2nd-grade teacher at USD 399 Natoma-Paradise-Waldo and an Elementary Art Teacher at USD 465 – Winfield.

I cannot express how amazing the last ten years have been. Amanda Wise has made the entire decade feel like a honeymoon. She is an unbelievable wife, mother, and friend. She is the iron that sharpens my iron, she challenges me to grow in Christ and is absolutely everything I could want our imagine in life. Thanks for the last decade and I look forward to the rest of our lives together.

On the other hand, Luke was a dedicated and inspirational wrestling coach who passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer, leaving behind his wife and three daughters.

The Wise family is undoubtedly going through a difficult time, and the community’s support will be crucial in helping them cope with this tragedy.

His passing has left a void in his family and the lives of the countless athletes and colleagues he mentored and inspired throughout his career.

Terrible. 3 young daughters. Luke was a good dude. Had been battling brain cancer for a while & held on to his strong faith through it all. Pray for this man’s family.

He cherished every moment spent with his family; his wife and three daughters were his greatest joy. His family now grieves the loss of a man who was their rock, their protector, and their biggest supporter.

A celebration of his life will be held to honor his remarkable journey and his impact on so many. He was a pillar of strength, guidance, and encouragement for his wrestlers.

He instilled in his students the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork, shaping them into not only better athletes but also better individuals. Rest In Peace, Coach Luke Wise.
