Tobias Eder, who represented Germany in last year’s World Hockey Championships, has died following cancer treatment, his club confirmed on 29 January.
26-year-old, Eder had been battling a malignant tumor since his diagnosis in August 2024.

Upon hearing the news of Tobias Eder’s passing, Jerry Green expressed his heartbreak, stating that Tobi and his brother Andy grew up alongside their son, Julian, playing hockey together.
Tobi and Andy went on to have successful careers in professional hockey in Germany and proudly represented the German National Team.
Jerry shared that he had known Tobi since birth and described him as an exceptionally talented young man.
Similarly, Leon Draisaitl, forward for the Edmonton Oilers, shared a tribute to Eder on his Instagram, posting a photo with the caption: “Rest in peace, Toni“
Eder represented Germany in three games at last year’s World Championships, scoring a goal against Slovakia in a 6-4 victory.
