Westfield Volleyball Player Brandon Genlot Dies In Car Crash After Tree Collision Leads To Fire

Brandon Genlot’s Car Crash Ignited Fire In The Surrounding Area

After Brandon Genlot’s car crash happened, the Union County Police were informed.

It was revealed that the mishap occurred in the Watchung Reservation on Sky Top Drive in Scotch Plains.

Additionally, it was disclosed that the high school volleyball player’s car accident ignited a fire.

Strictly speaking, the officers on the scene reported the one vehicle and the surrounding area on fire.

Captain John DaSilva, who was there, shared that the victim’s vehicle had hit a tree and caught fire. He was found lifeless inside the car.

Later, it came to light that the Scotch Plains Fire Department was called to put out the fire.

Following the news, Tom Paterson informed Genlot’s school community about the tragedy.

The acting principal of Westfield High School noted,

“I wanted to make you aware so that we may come together to support our students, staff, and Brandon’s family during this time of sorrow.”

“His family has granted permission for us to share the news of their loss, as it deeply affects our entire school community.”

“This morning, we brought together groups by grade level to gently share the news. This provided staff and students a space to begin processing their feelings together.”

So, after their recent loss, the high school is providing counseling for those who are having a hard time processing the heartbreaking news.

The acting principal also mentioned how the school collaborates with the Traumatic Loss Coalition for Youth and district counselors to provide additional support for those who require it.

Paterson concluded his statement by paying tribute to Genlot’s memory and expressing condolences for his family during this challenging time, stating,

“Please keep Brandon’s family in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we will honor his memory and support one another.”

Brandon Genlot Is Survived By His Parents And Two Siblings, Who Are Mourning His Loss

Brandon Genlot was raised by his father, Jeff, and his mother, Donna Genlot. He was one of the two kids of his parents.

With the high school volleyball star gone, Genlot’s couple is mourning Brandon’s loss alongside their two kids, a son and a daughter.

Jeff and Donna have shared news about their late son’s funeral. Brandon’s mother took it to her Facebook page and stated,

“It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of our son, Brandon.”

“A service to honor Brandon’s life will be held 11/17/24 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Higgins and Bonner 582 Springfield Ave Westfield, NJ 07090.”
