BREAKING: Bucs Sign Akiem Hicks to 1 year deal
Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks has signed a 1 year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth up to 10 million dollars.
The move is meant to replace Ndamukong Suh, who the Bucs signed at $9 Million in 2021. Suh recorded 6 sacks and 27 tackles over 17 games.
Hicks hasn't recorded more than 4 sacks in the last 3 years, but is capable of an 8.5 sack season, which he recorded in 2017.
The Bucs run defense is very good, especially in the red-zone, but is 15th in the league in yards per attempt allowed.
Tampa Bay is a good fit for Hicks, who won't be expected to stay on the field long due to Tom Brady's ability to get the Bucs in front and defend the lead.
The Bucs' defense spends an average of 2:39 on the field for every defensive stand, ranked 7th in the league. This should give Hicks plenty of rest time and lead to a productive season.
