She was an optimist, curious and adventurous, a bright student, an athlete and a gamer.

Sophia Alessandra Urquilla’s Autopsy Suggests That She Died Of Fentanyl Toxicity
Sophia Alessandra Urquilla was found dead on January 30, 2025, at 14, in her bed. The cause of death was a drug overdose.
According to the autopsy report, Sophia died of fentanyl toxicity, and the manner of death was accidental.
The Tucson Unified School District said the district counseled Sophia’s classmates. They also poured a small tribute to Sophia by stating,
“Tucson Unified School District and the Mansfeld Middle School administrations are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our student,” “We urge everyone to be respectful of the family during this incredibly difficult time and to remember the tragedy they are experiencing. Tucson Unified is committed to supporting our students and staff and is providing counseling services to help them cope with the loss of their classmate and student while we continue to fully cooperate with any law enforcement investigation.”

Sophia’s visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Catalina, 3435 N First Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85719.
A graveside service is set for 3–3:30 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Mortuary, Cemetery and Crematory, 3015 North Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705.

Tucson Middle School’s Sophia’s Parents Are Mourning The Loss Of Their Daughter
Sophia Alessandra Urquilla, 14, was born on December 6, 2010, to her father, Manuel, and her mother, Sindy Urquilla.
Her parents have avoided social media, so only limited information is available regarding their personal life.
However, Sindy and Manuel are devastated by the shocking death of their daughter Sophia. They released Sophia’s obituary by stating,
“She was a loving child, a wonderful sister to Angel, and a great friend to many,” “She was an optimist, curious and adventurous, a bright student, an athlete, and a gamer. She was sassy, had sarcastic humor, and great comebacks. She had a big heart and loved everyone in her life unconditionally. Those that had an opportunity to meet Sophia know that she was a beautiful wonderful, lovely young girl who’s departed too soon.”

Sophia shared a strong bond with her late grandmother, Rosa Moreno.
She grew up with her cousin, Alexander Salaza Acevedo, born on July 21, 2002, to his mother, Iris Acevedo. Sadly, Alexander passed away on February 23, 2023, at 20, due to a car accident.
He is survived by his brother Oscar, grandparents Abel and Berta, uncle Abel G Herrera, and aunt Karen Herrera.
The officials said the crash occurred on February 21, 2023, around 9:45 p.m. near South Park Avenue and East Benson Highway.
According to officers, that crash involved a white 2019 Ford F-35 and a silver 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS 550.
Detectives added the Ford F-350 was traveling southbound on North Park Avenue, attempting to make a left-hand turn onto East Benson Highway when it crashed into the Mercedes-Benz.
A visitation for Alexander was held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Funerarua del Angel University, 7 East University Blvd, Tucson, AZ 75705.
The graveside service was held on March 3 at Evergreen Cemetry, 3015 N Oracle Rd, Tucson.
However, Sophia has reunited in paradise with her grandmother Rosa and cousin Alexander.
