Professional basketball player Kai Jones dealt with the mental health struggles following the passing of his great-grandparents.
During an interview with Shams Charania, Jones said that his great-grandparents had passed away in May and July, respectively, which left him in an insufficient mental space and compounded with the stress of being an NBA player.
His mental struggles also contributed to his bizarre social media activity, and the Hornets wanted him to go into therapy.
Jones’ situation was talked about extensively, with veteran Terrence Ross even going as far as to question his mental health.
Later, Jones talked about how his therapy helped him and how physical training helped keep him in shape. Jones thanked the NBA Players Association for their support, stating,
“I want to thank the NBPA. They stepped in and played a major role in my off-the-court development program, where I was doing therapy two times a week to get me ready to get back into this professional environment so I could adjust in the right way and get me ready for the FIBA AmeriCup, too,”
