Yahaira Onofre, a graduate of Hillsborough Community College, is a full-time dental assistant at Aspen Dental in Atlanta, Georgia.
She has been with Aspen Dental since October 2021, during which time she has gained valuable experience in radiography, X-rays, and other dental skills.

At a time when most kids are struggling with feelings of confusion and frustration, Al-Shaair had Yahaira looking out for him.
He remembers being the quiet kid, sitting at the back of the classroom with his head down, trying to stay unnoticed.

Yahaira was there for Al-Shaair through some of his most challenging moments, especially when he wasn’t sure if his mom’s legal issues would ever get resolved.
For nearly seven years, Al-Shaair’s mother had an arrest warrant out against her—not for committing a crime, but because the government suspected her of misusing food stamps due to missing tax documents.
As a result, she could not leave the state of Florida during that time.
With everything coming together, that support and faith have helped him reach a point where he can give back to his family, particularly his mom, whom he’s always looked up to.
