Chaz Lanier, an American college basketball player, 23, was born on December 19, 2001, in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, to his father, Thomas, and his mother, Stacey Lanier.

Thomas graduated from Sheffield High School in 1991, where he excelled as a member of the Bulldogs basketball team. He led the team to an 89-11 record and two area championships.

He averaged 22.6 points per game, shooting 54% from the field, and scored 1041 points in four varsity seasons. In 1991, he was selected to both the All-Are and All-State teams.

His high school success led to a basketball scholarship to David Lipscomb University, where he helped the team lead the Bisons to four consecutive NAIA Tournaments.

Thomas calls his son a student of the game who devoured all teaching points, applying them naturally. In one of the interviews, Thomas said,

“He shot a lot of balls himself,”  “He learned what would go in and not go in.”

On the other hand, Chaz’s mother, Stacey, played collegiate basketball for the Alcorn State Braves in the 1988-1989 season.

Per her LinkedIn profile, she received her B.S., Ed in Psychology from Alcorn State University.

Currently, Stacey is serving as the CEO and co-founder of The Atelier.

Chaz Lanier Grew Up With His Brother Trey Lanier

Chaz Lanier grew up playing basketball with his older brother, Trey Lanier. Having a 6-foot-6 brother, Chaz always complained about his height.

In one of the interviews, Chaz said,

“When I was small, I was like ‘Why am I this small? I told my mom that I don’t think basketball is for me—I’m just being real,”

Trey is a multi-sport athlete at Ensworth High School in Nashville, where he excelled in football, lacrosse, and basketball.

A member of the Class of 2018, Trey played as a tackle (T) and defensive tackle (DT) for the Ensworth Varsity Football team from 2014 to 2017.

Additionally, he played basketball for Ensworth from 2015 to 2017, showcasing his athleticism across multiple sports.

Beyond football and basketball, Lanier was active in lacrosse, competing for the EHS Boys Varsity Lacrosse team during the 20172018 season.

Moreover, Chaz Lanier has a cousin named Bob Lanier, a former NBA player and member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
