Manchester United Transfer News

Who Are 3 Players That Will Sign For Manchester United This Summer?

Red Devils Need New Blood

After a very disappointing season, Manchester United fans couldn’t wait to till the summer transfer window opens. The big question now is who will Manchester United sign this summer? Man United is always surrounded by transfer speculations but this year more than any other United needs to conduct some serious transfer business. It is reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjær will have £200m to spend on new reinforcements (plus the money he gets from outgoing player transfers, which can ramp the transfer budget to over £350m). First, let me ask you who would you sell and buy if you were Man United Manager?

Who Will Be Leaving Manchester United This Summer?

It’s not difficult to say that most of the United players underperform this season and if the price is right everybody could be for sale, however, let’s shed more light on players that are more likely to leave this summer.

Ander Herrera – Leaving for PSG

Herrera is confirmed to leave Manchester United this summer on a free transfer as a result of failing to agree contractual terms with the Red Devils. It’s been claimed by sports journalist Duncan Castles.

“I can tell you from more than one source, my information is that Herrera was actually proposed a pay cut by Manchester United to stay at the club – contrary to what you’ll have seen elsewhere, that he was demanding a massive increase to stay at the club.

“What actually happened, I’m reliably told, is they offered him a pay cut. He felt they disrespected him and then entered into negotiations with other clubs, including Paris St-Germain, he agreed a contract with PSG and left.

Herrera was fans’ favorite since he joined the club in 2014 from Atletico Bilbao.

Romelu Lukaku – Seria A – 4/5

Romelu Lukaku was one of the biggest disappointments this season. At age 26 he still has a lot of years to show his potential and win cups but it’s unlikely he will do it in Manchester United jersey. Seria A clubs – Inter & AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Lukaku this summer. If the price is right and Red Devils will be able to recover the majority of the £85 they paid for Lukaku in 2017 to Everton, there is no doubt he will be on his way to Italy.

Juan Mata – Free Transfer

Mata is another Spanish player that will be leaving Man United this summer. Spanish veteran, 31, similarly to his compatriot Herrera failed to agree a new contract with Red Devils and will be leaving on a free transfer. His next destination will probably be in his native Spanish La Liga. There are rumors that Barcelona and his former club Valencia are among clubs interested in Mata’s services.

Antonio Valencia – Galatasaray

Ecuadorian Right Back, 33, has been offered a one-year contract worth €2.7m per-season by Galatasaray Istanbul. Valencia didn’t get much playing time in the 2018/19 season and joining Galatasaray would give him perhaps the last chance to play in Champions League, since Galatasaray won the Turkish League title and qualify for Champions League competition.

Valencia has been at Manchester United for 10 seasons. He scored on 25 occasions and provided 62 assists in 339 appearances in all competitions.

David De Gea – PSG  3/5

De Gea, 28, didn’t have the best season making rookie mistakes at times. He has been linked with Real Madrid in the past, however, after Courtois joining Los Blancos all these speculations quieted down. De Gea has only one more year on his contract and despite a poor season he is still considered to be among the best goalkeepers in Europe. It’s been rumored that De Gea is ready to join PSG this summer because Manchester United refused to agree to De Gea’s new contract conditions. Apparently, Man United keeper asked for the same mega-contract (£350,000/week) as Alexus Sanchez to stay in Manchester.

Paul Pogba – Real Madrid -3/5

Paul Pogba like his compatriots did not have the best season of his career. In fact, his issues with Mourinho let him miss out on many games in the fall. Once Ole Gunnar Solskjær took over the reins he tried to utilize his crown jewel as much as he could. Pogba seems to divide Man United fans.

Pogba has been rumored to leave Red Devils for Real Madrid this summer as a part of a player swap deal. Man United are long-time admirers of Bale. However, Bale’s form was very poor this season, which may hinder any potential transfer swap deal.

Pogba is also rumored to re-join Juventus, where he would unite with his former teammates and the superstar Ronaldo. Ronaldo is one of a few players that could really help Pogba to fulfill his potential.

Who Will Sign For Manchester United This Summer?

Value of the Manchester United brand is not what it used to be a year ago. Not being able to offer Champions League football does not help Red Devils either. Therefore, Manchester United needs to break their piggy bank if they want to attract world-class players (remember Alexis Sanchez). Ole Gunnar Solskjær will have £200m to spend on new reinforcements and if he plays his cards right and sells the deadwood in the squad for good money he rais his bank to around £350 million.

It is clear that Man United needs to reinforce all the positions if they want to compete for silverware next season. The biggest infested wound was inconsistent and poorly organized defense.

Here are some defensive signings that could be convinced to join Red Devils if the price and salary are right.

Kalidou Koulibaly – £84m (Napoli) 4/5

If there is something that Manchester United need it’s Virgil Van Dijk like powerhouse defender in the center of their defense. Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly fits all the right criteria. He is strong, fast, tall, organizes players around him and he has enough experience to transform Man United defense into a brick wall, however, Napoli will not let Koulibaly leave for cheap. It’s reported that Manchester United would have to beat Liverpool’s world transfer record £75m they paid for a defender (Virgil Van Dijk).

Red Devils will face fierce competition for Koulibaly. It is rumored that he is very high on Pep Guardiola’s transfer list. He also needs to reinforce Manchester City defense after the departure of Vincent Kompany. So, it is yet to be decided which part of Manchester will Koulibaly join if any.

Matthijs de Ligt – £65m+ (Ajax) 2/5

Matthijs de Ligt, 19, is one of the hottest young prospects. Ajax captain has attracted a lot of interest from the best clubs in Europe. His Champions League knockout rounds performance against Real Madrid, Juventus, and Tottenham showed what a compact player he is in his age.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool, PSG, Manchester City are all among clubs interested in de Ligt services. It will be very difficult for Man United to compete with the above-mentioned clubs that can offer de Ligt Champions League football.

Koulibaly and de Ligt would certainly transform Manchester United’s defense, that being said Man United will not be able to buy both players at the same time and breaking the bank only for defenders wouldn’t make sense either. Let’s look at who else can reinforce United squad.

Joao Felix “new Christiano Ronaldo” bid submitted

Benfica Lisbon prodigy, Joao Felix, who is believed to be the next Christiano Ronaldo netted 20 goals in all competitions for Benfica in 2018/19 season. He is among the hottest attacking players and not surprisingly Benfica values his services to astronomic £106m. According to Portuguese newspaper, Correio da Manha Real Madrid and both Manchester teams submitted a bid for Joao Felix.

Bruno Fernandes – Done Deal £67m

According to reports from Portugal Bruno Fernandes signing will be announced shortly. Sporting superstar midfielder, who scored 31 goals for his side this season. He is a type of player that shouldn’t have any problems stepping in Paul Pogba’s shoes if he decides to leave the club.

We will see much more transfer rumors surrounding Manchester United this summer. It’s very likely though that Manchester United will be able to sign Koulibaly in a world record deal, and two Portugees superstars Joao Felix and Bruno Fernandes.
