Bayern Munich Sacks Naglesmannto – Hiring Tuchel?

Bayern Munich has fired manager Julian Nagelsmann and is reportedly set to hire former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel as his replacement, according to sources confirmed to ESPN’s Julien Laurens on Thursday. The sources revealed that Tuchel is expected to sign a contract that will last until 2025 with the Bundesliga giants. It has also been reported that Tuchel has been in contact with Tottenham, potentially replacing under-pressure coach Antonio Conte.

Fabrizio Romano was the first to report the news of Bayern Munich’s managerial change.

Bayern hired Nagelsmann in April 2021 to replace the outgoing Hansi Flick. Nagelsmann led them to their 10th consecutive Bundesliga title last season. Despite reaching the quarterfinals of the Champions League this season, Bayern is struggling in domestic competition. They trail Tuchel’s former team, Borussia Dortmund, by one point in the standings and are only four points ahead of third-place Union Berlin.

Bayern’s recent 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen was the last straw, allowing Dortmund to take first place. Tuchel’s first game as manager will be against his former club in the next edition of Der Klassiker on April 1. The match will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Tuchel left Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of 2021 to take the manager’s job at Chelsea, leading them to win the Champions League title in his first half-season in charge. However, he was replaced by Graham Potter early in the 2022-23 campaign after Chelsea had a poor start to the season.

Bayern is set to face Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals in April.
