Doom, Gloom, And Sorrow Whitecaps At LA Galaxy Fall 1-0

The Whitecaps At LA Galaxy Fall Short

The Whitecaps at LA Galaxy was a match that saw streaks broken. Vancouver was unable to get their 3rd win in a row. On the other end, the Galaxy snapped their 6 matches losing streak.

In the 90th Minute sub, Kai Koreniuk would beat Jake Nerwinski on the Pavon Cross. It was an unfortunate finish for the Whitecaps as they are unable to climb up the MLS Western Conference.

The Galaxy stays alive and stops its fans from revolting. Are fans revolting? sounds like a completely different article so stay tuned for that as they won't be awarding the supporters shield this season.

News, Notes, and Lineups

The Whitecaps at Galaxy was coming in on a two-game win streak. Head Coach Marc Dos Santos left his lineup unchanged for LAFC. Space was open on both sides as the match would continue. A poor header by Jake Nerwinski and Pavon was in alone on the Keeper. Evan Bush was able to get his hand on the dribble and then save the second attempt on net. Some nervous minutes early in the match for the Whitecaps. They were able to string together a couple of minutes of control but didn't get past midfield.

The Whitecaps would attack the other way as the game really opened up. Cavallini looked to give the Whitecaps the lead but he was offside in the 53rd minute. Much like the first half, the second was rather dull.

Vancouver was holding more of the ball and Dajome would get shots on target that were easily dealt with by Klinsmann. It was back and forth with not much excitement. Both teams were staying in a solid defensive form. as the 60th-minute mark would roll on the Galaxy would look for a long cross. It would roll out for a corner kick. It was a game that just lacked the intensity to this point. The Galaxy would try again to cross the ball in but it was straight to Evan Bush.

Vancouver would control things from the 60th minute. They weren't able to use the 5 minutes of control to get any real chances. The Galaxy would take their turn trying to get one of their own into the box. It was a match of tired legs it seemed. Chicharito was almost sprung but Nerwinski was able to clear it out of touch in the 70th minute. Marc Dos Santos would have his first change bringing on Ryan Raposo for Baldisimo in the 71st minute. It gave the visiting team a surge but it was quickly countered.

Post Match Comments

After waiting and waiting Marc Dos Santos spoke after the match about the Whitecaps at LA Galaxy 1-0 loss.

"It’s heartbreaking. Everybody in the locker room feels that we deserved to go back to Portland with at least another point. We knew the game would break after 65 minutes. Both teams looked tired and far from each other but we knew it would be one moment offensively from one of the teams. We had a lot of the possession, especially in the first half but we lacked a little bit of clarity to create chances. It was a lot of possession but not enough chances created. Even though if we had some that were dangerous, we still could have done better."

He was also very short with me when asked about David Milinkovic not being in the 18. Sorry Marc, the 20. My bad. Next up was Evan Bush, and he spoke on the pace of the play.

"Yeah you know, I don't think it was great, to be honest. We were on the ball a lot more than I think that we're used to being on the ball. And that might have surprised us a little bit. I don't think that we moved it probably as quickly as we should have. Find pockets, be more decisive, drive at them a little bit more, but at the same time, if you think about it rationally, this is what the fifth game and in like 14 or 15 days third game in a week"

Rusty finished things off and was clearly unhappy about the late call against him.

"That's what this game is about, it's about two teams battling for points and, as I just mentioned, you don't want a deciding moment, a decisive moment is a game to be ultimately decided by an official. You want the two teams to battle it out, fight like we did. It was it was a tough match up until that moment and, you know, it's just unfortunate that that steals the show and it shouldn't."

"Yeah, these games, I think have been tough on all teams so I can't just say for us it's been tough. It's tough on every team. It's unusual, it's something we're not accustomed to and it's taking some time to adjust. For us, our next couple matches, or a few matches are at home in Portland, but we've been good there in recent form so we'll look to continue to get results there. We need to get results there if you want to contend for the best."

Russell Teibert on moving on from tonight's Whitecaps at LA Galaxy match and looking ahead to the last 4 matches.

Unnamed Sports Show Points Of The Match

There was a lot to this match and not a lot if you catch my drift. Media was quick with only 3 of us asking questions. I was lucky enough to get the piss MDS off question of the night so I give myself the first point.

Post Media Moment Of The Match

Well, that tells me a lot. I reached out to the team after the fact and got the exact same response. Marc said it was a "Technical Decision." What does that even mean? I can only speculate so I will say he had to head back to Vancouver early for some reason...Or something else what do I know.

Ali Adnan "Best Causer Of Grey Hairs"

Ali had a solid match but he needs to ease off giving me grey hairs. I'm only 32 so I don't need him heading it back to Evan Bush like he's trying to score for Iraq in the World Cup. The break will be good for Ali who was subbed off and it was obvious he was tired this match. He should be refreshed and ready to go for the Whitecaps when they take on San Jose.

Evan Bush MOTM

Evan Bush had a great night making saves he probably shouldn't have to keep things scoreless. He had no chance on the game-winning goal and played well out of the back all match. Scroll down for a shameless plug as I spoke with Evan earlier this week about his transition to the Whitecaps.
