Matt Patricia Patriots

Matt Patricia to the Eagles?

Matt Patricia knows football. Regardless of a lot of fans’ take on the beleaguered former Lions head coach the man has some serious skills and an impressive resume. It seems the former New England Patriots offensive play-caller, may be taking his talents to the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles as a linebackers coach. According to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, Patricia is eyeing a return to the same role he had with the Patriots from 2006-2010 before he moved on to work with safeties and eventually became their defensive coordinator.

This potential career move isn’t the only option for Patricia. Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton initially interviewed Patricia for the defensive coordinator role, but after that didn’t work out, Payton said there was still a chance for Patricia to have a role on the Broncos’ staff. However, the possibility of coaching for the Eagles could mean that Patricia is NFC-bound for the first time since he served as the head coach for the Detroit Lions.

While the door may still be open for Patricia in New England if he decides to return, there is clearly growing interest in Patricia coaching in at least some capacity outside of the Patriots. Coach Bill Belichick had him calling plays and reportedly even had him helping design floor plans for a new team facility in 2022. Talk about a jack of all trades!

Only time will tell where Patricia ends up, but we’re excited to see what he brings to the table for any team that takes him on.
