Stats You Might Have Missed From Tuesday's Champions League

Finally! The UEFA Champions League is back. The knockout rounds kick-off with Manchester United hosting Paris Saint-Germain and AS Roma hosting FC Porto. Man United was humbled at Old Trafford 2-0 by the Parisian club. A huge mountain to climb for the English club in the second leg. Also, Roma won 2-1 against FC Porto but the Portuguese club still has a chance to turn the score in their favor next month. Other than the obvious scores and goalscorers etc. here are some statistics you might not have missed:

  •  Mbappe levels with Ronaldo

Kylian Mbappe added himself to the scoresheet against Man United in a 2-0 win. On Tuesday, The 20-year-old scored his 14th Champions League goal. The French international is now leveled with former Real Madrid player Ronaldo Nazario. Mbappe scored most of his UCL goals away from home. So far he has scored 10 UCL goals away from home.

  • Buffon joins two legendary goalkeepers

Gianluigi Buffon kept his 50th UCL clean sheet against Man United. The 41-year-old joins two other legendary goalkeepers, Iker Casillas, and Edwin Van der Sar. Also, the Italian shot-stopper became the fourth player to appear in the Champions League aged 41 or older.

  • First, First and First

Paris Saint-Germain became the first French team to win at Old Trafford in the history of the Champions League. Previously, French clubs lost of their 10 visits but only drawing 2. Also, the Parisian club became the first to beat Man United since the appointment of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Lastly, PSG became the first club to score more than one goal at Old Trafford in European competition for the first time in their history.
