With the wear and tear NFL running backs receive they more or less reinvent themselves each season based on how their skill sets have evolved. Let’s take a quick look at the Ezekiel Elliott 2021 version.
Ezekiel Elliott 2021
Zeke is a plug & play guy in fantasy and in real life. Elliott is the key cog that turns the offensive machine in Big D.
Vision
With his vision, he cranks out splash plays on a regular basis. Like a certain Hall of Fame running back before him, 20-yard runs are his currency.
Power
Zeke has power. He understands leverage and his body is solid. Elliott keeps his wheels churning and defenders quickly learn Zeke is not down until a moment or two after the whistle has echoed.
Balance
Elliott has unreal balance. Combined with his other skills it allows him to turn smaller plays into huge gains.
Quickness
A power back with quickness is a dangerous thing. Here the defender has a solid angle and is closing quickly on Elliott but his quickness in turning upfield and lowering his shoulder is the difference between a goal-line stand or 6 points.
Blocking
A running back in today’s NFL has to be able to pick up the blitz if they want to be in the game on passing downs as well as running downs. Watch Zeke make the play here resulting in a huge first down play to Ceedee Lamb.
Ezekiel Elliott scores in short-yardage, moves the chains, and can deliver back-breaking plays from any down and distance. He is the football equivalent of baseball’s “5-tool player.” When he has a good day the ‘Boys almost always win. The Ezekiel Elliott 2021 version is something special.
