Whitecaps vs Rapids Preview Sunday, May 2nd

The Whitecaps vs Rapids preview for Sunday nights Major League Soccer action. Vancouver will host the Colorado Rapids at 7:00 pm PST from Rio Tinto Stadium. The Whitecaps are coming off a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC last weekend. If you missed any of that match you can get caught up right here with my recap from Sports Talk Line.

Colorado is coming off a 3-1 loss to Austin FC. After taking the lead thanks to a 36th minute Andre Shinyashiki goal. Austin FC would storm back with 3 unanswered in the second half for their first MLS win. Head coach Robin Fraser will be looking for his team's first win of the season Sunday evening.

The last time these two teams were set to meet in 2020, the world got turned upside down. We did get a match, but it wasn't the one we wanted, it was exciting though!

We should get a great game tonight, knock on wood, as The Whitecaps look to get off to their best start since 2012.

The Whitecaps are slowly getting players back to health or full fitness. Derek Cornelius and Tosaint Ricketts will be available for head coach Marc Dos Santos. The Whitecaps will go with relatively the same lineup as the first two matches. Caio Alexandre will replace Michael Baldisimo who took a knock at training this week. Marc Dos Santos will go with the same backline and leave Cornelius and Bruno Gaspar to come off the bench. Look for the attacking 3 of Lucas Cavallini, Deiber Caicedo, and Cristian Dajome to do damage tonight.

The Rapids will get reinforcements as Sam Vines will return at the backline for Robin Fraser's squad. That means Kellyn Acosta can move back into the midfield.
