Is Andy Ruiz Jr Going To Shock The World Once Again?

Is Andy Ruiz Jr Going To Shock The World Once Again? "Sponsored"

The biggest boxing rematch in recent memory takes place this weekend. The careers of Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua could change forever, with Joshua’s possibly coming to an end if he suffers the same fate that he did back in New York.

The man with the most to gain remains Ruiz, as a defeat would be considered as the result that many are predicting. However, Joshua will be keen not to make the same mistakes as he did in the USA.

On that night he took the abilities of Ruiz for granted and didn’t respect his opponent as much as he would have should he have been against somebody like Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. But could we see the same result again?

Ruiz Isn’t A Push Over

While he may remain an unknown quantity on the global stage, Ruiz is certainly no easy win for Joshua. The first-ever Mexican heavyweight champion has only lost once, and that came in contentious circumstances in New Zealand against Joseph Parker.

Many people who watched that fight thought that the points decision could have gone either way, but Parker got the rub of the green since it took place in his home country.

Of course, Joshua is the highest quality of opponent that he has beaten though. He has won 22 of these 33 fights by knockout, with the most recent of them coming against Joshua back in June. Unlike his British opponent, he has never been knocked out in a professional bout.

Esteemed Amateur Career

The Mexican’s pedigree as a champion can clearly be seen through his record at the amateur level. He won 105 of his 110 bouts at this level, which also includes two Mexican National Junior Olympic golds and a Ringside World Championship win. Like Joshua, he also represented his country at the summer Olympics.

However, unlike the Brit, he never got to the medal bouts as Robert Alfonso, and Oscar Rivas beat him in qualifying.

The latter of which showed his quality against Dillian Whyte in a recent bout in London, with the Brit securing his place as the mandatory challenger for Wilder’s titles. However, it was a struggle, which shows the quality of these fighters that have had esteemed amateur careers but haven’t had the same opportunities when they have turned professional.

Pressure

Much like the New York bout between the pair, the pressure remains on Joshua to impress. Ruiz wasn’t expected to win that first fight so there will be additional pressure on him for this fight, but that is still nothing compared to the challenger.

There is a sense that Ruiz thrives when there is no pressure on him, and Joshua could once again leave himself open to the progressive punches that the Mexican throws.

Ruiz can certainly get at Joshua as the questions surrounding his ability to get punched have never wavered. In fact, they intensified with the knockdowns that Ruiz inflicted on him in their first meeting, and should Ruiz drop him early then that pressure could be telling.

The British fighter will know that he will have everything to lose in this fight, and any potential bout with Wilder or Fury could be gone forever. Meanwhile, Ruiz will return as a hero to Mexico regardless as he has put the country’s heavyweight prowess on the map.

The impossible result from the last bout may not seem to be as improbable this time around.

The fight is certainly one that will be watched around the world, and every fight fan will be waiting with bated breath to see which way it goes. Just like with other sports, like free live horse race streaming, there are also plenty of platforms offering prices on this boxing bout for reasonable prices.
