Cowboys Trade for Jamal Adams - What Didn't Happen

IF the Cowboys had traded for Jamal Adams right before the deadline and Dallas finally did what Cowboys Nation has been clamoring for since Woodson retired, obtain elite talent at safety, the event would have been celebrated.

Cowboys Trade for Jamal Adams

Supposedly the Jets were looking for two 1st round picks for the all-pro safety. OUCH. My information had Dallas willing to give up a 1st and some sweetener for Adams who is still under his rookie contract. The clock has ticked midnight. Jerry Jones is still looking for his next elite talent at the safety position. HEY JERRY! Jimmy got the last one. 'just saying.

Jamal Adams - The Metrics

From the NFL Combine:

6'1" 213 lbs - 4.56 sec 40 yd dash - 18 reps in Bench Press - 31.5" Vert - 120" Broad AND 4.13 second 20-yard short shuttle which  is INSANE (it's official - lookup insane and it list his short shuttle)

NFL Profile Highlights

"Natural-born leader of men. Well-built. Will not hesitate for one second as a hitter"

"Steps downhill looking to punish running backs to set a tone for defense."

"The people who have been at that program the longest think he might be the best leader LSU has had in years."

Jamal Adams Overview

Dallas is "ok" at safety. Woods is an improving talent and Heath is undervalued. Yet there is no doubting the upgrade Adams would bring. He is the right age, a pro-bowler, has the right skills, can play either safety spot and just "fits" what the Cowboys try and do on defense.

Dallas has an elite playmaker at each level and group on defense EXCEPT safety. Well, there ya go.
