Cowboys Have Dynamic Duo in Zeke and Pollard
STL Audio Post
Dallas Cowboys RBs Zeke and Pollard Are Not Slowing Down Anytime Soon!
The Cowboys already have arguably the best running back in the league in Ezekiel Elliott and now they have a one-two punch in their backfield that could help them make a deep playoff run. And Now The Cowboys may have hit the jackpot when they drafted Tony Pollard out of Memphis in the fourth round of this year’s draft. Zeke and Pollard are here to terrorize defense all day long!
There’s no doubt Zeke has been an absolute workhorse in his young career. In his first three seasons, Elliott has over 1,000 career touches and has put the offense on his shoulders at times. Now, with Pollard in the mix, the Cowboys can keep Zeke fresh late in games, and for later in the season when all the hits start to add up and take their toll.
Defenses better not sleep on Pollard because he can break a long run at any time. Coming off his first 100-yard rushing game against the Dolphins, he’s going to get more looks and can provide a spark Dallas has been missing in recent years. We saw traces of his playmaking ability in the preseason against the Rams when he had 5 rushes for 42 yards and a TD, and he just put up 128 total yards on Sunday.
Pollard was like a Swiss army knife in Memphis showing game-breaking ability as a rusher, receiver, and kick returner. He tied the FBS record for career kick returns for touchdowns with 7. At 6’1, 215 pounds he ran a 4.52 forty at the combine, but then blazed a 4.3 at his pro day which is more comparable to his speed on the field. With solid hands as a receiver, “Touchdown Tony” is a threat in the passing game as well.

Dallas spent a fourth-round pick on this guy for a reason, and it’s already paying dividends. Zeke has 289 rushing yards and is averaging a healthy 5.3 yards-per-carry, while Pollard has chipped in with 149 yards at 5.0 yards-per-carry. Keeping Zeke fresh and adding a home run threat to a potent offense could make for a Super Bowl run.
