Iowa State RB David Montgomery Declares for 2019 NFL Draft

Every year college football continues to pump underrated running backs into the NFL that somehow sneak into the early-mid rounds. This year the NFL will get another one of those guys in David Montgomery. Montgomery announced via his twitter account on Monday, that he will be leaving Iowa State, and headed to the NFL.

Montgomery has been one of college football’s most successful running backs over the last few years and will look to continue his success to the next level. In his three seasons at Iowa State, Montgomery carried the ball 624 times, for 2,925 yards (4.7 yards-per-carry), and scored 26 times on the ground. While it’s definitely not his best trait, Montgomery also contributed as a receiver as well hauling in 71 receptions for 582 yards throughout his tenure at Iowa State.

Montgomery is a bowling ball of a running back that plays with a tremendous amount of strength, balance through contact, and vision. In a running back class that lacks top-end talent, it would be no surprise to see the former-Iowa State runner to be one of the first backs drafted in the upcoming draft. The best is yet to come for David Montgomery and NFL fans will soon be very familiar with the 5-foot-11, 216-lb running back.
