Luka Jovic- The Young Serbian Who Outperforming Lewandowski & Co.

Europe’s top clubs have found their latest target Bundesliga star, Luka Jovic. His outstanding performances so far this season has caught the eyes of Barcelona, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich. Jovic currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from SL Benfica. The 20-year-old mainly plays a center-forward but has experience playing on both wings. The Serbian began his professional career with Red Star Belgrade becoming the youngest goalscorer at 16 years old. At 18 years old, SL Benfica spotted his talent and signed him €6.6 M. At Benfica, Jovic mainly played for the reserve team and only made 4 appearances for the first team.

2017/2018 season

In 2017, Jovic joined Bundesliga club, Eintracht Frankfurt on a two-year loan. This did not go so well in the first season in which the Serbian made 27 appearances, scoring 9 goals and 2 assists. Most of Jovic appearances came from off the bench. The season ended well when his club memorably won the German Cup against Bayern Munich.

2018/2019 season

So far this season, the Serbian performances have been catching everyone's eye. The 20-year-old made 14 Bundesliga appearances scoring 12 goals and providing 4 assists. His most memorable performance came against Fortuna Dusseldorf. Eintracht Frankfurt demolished them 7-1. Jovic scored 5 of these goals and became the youngest player in Bundesliga to score 5 times in the same game.

Meanwhile, in the Europa League, Jovic has put himself on the radar with 5 goals in 6 appearances to guide his team to the round of 32.

Jovic could be a good replacement for the aging Luis Suarez at Barcelona. Barcelona could gradually bring him into the first team as they did with Samuel Umtiti and Nelson Semedo. However, Liverpool still has an interest in the young striker. According to TransfrMarket, Luka Jovic is currently valued at €40M but that value will be expected to rise if Jovic goal-scoring hunt continues.
