Liverpool vs Leeds Review: Leeds Meant Business and Champions Struggled

Welcome to the 2020/21 Premier League season. It has been all but boring so far! Arsenal destroyed Fulham in the first match of the season and Champions really struggled vs the new boys in town. Liverpool vs Leeds on paper seems like an easy pick but in reality, Leeds meant business, and Liverpool's leaky defense shows glimpses of Title hangover early on in the season.

Liverpool vs Leeds: How It Happened

Liverpool opened up the score in the 3rd minute of the game after a handball call Mo Salah drilled in his 1st goal of the season from a penalty kick.

Jack Harrison found an answer in the 12th minute. Harrison found himself on open on the left side and TAA, Gomez and VVD could not stop Harrison who didn't get any chance to Alisson.

Virgil Van Dijk's header from the corner from the 20th minute put the Champions ahead for the 2nd time but Leeds' Patrick Bamford tied the game 10 minutes later after picking up a loose ball and banging in another equalizer.

Mo Salah added his 2nd goal of the season only 3 minutes later and boy was that a beauty!!! 3-2 for the Champions.

Matheus Klich added his 1st premier League goal exactly 33 minutes later and tied the game to 3-3.

Liverpool was holding the ball for majority of the 2nd half but only 87th minutes foul on Fabinho in box lead to the 2nd penalty for Liverpool of the game.

Mo Salah banged in his 2nd penalty of the day and finishing his 1st hat trick of the season and at the moment is sitting at the top of the score board.

Liverpool secured their 1st win of the season in rather ugly fashion but securing 3 points and adding another win at home was what history will remember.

4-3 was the the final score and if Liverpool wants to even think about challenging for the title their defense must really step up and remember how to play football and what the role of a defender is!

Congratulations to Liverpool and massive respect to Leeds for putting up such a show!
