The visit was likely a short break during the inaugural Xi’an Grand Prix, where Shaun had an impressive performance, whitewashing Jamie Clarke in just 55 minutes with three-century breaks during the qualifying round.
However, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Judd Trump, with a scoreline of 5-4. Kyren Wilson eventually won the Grand Prix, defeating Trump 10-8 in a closely contested final.
Murphy Was Previously Married Twice
Shaun Murphy’s first marriage was to Clare Murphy. They tied the knot in July 2005, shortly after Shaun won the World Championship.
However, their marriage faced difficulties, and they eventually divorced in 2009.
The relationship deteriorated due to various personal issues, including a controversial incident involving Shaun spending a night with an escort he met at a religious youth group, as was reported in an expose by “The People” newspaper.
After his divorce from Clare, Shaun found love again with Elaine O’Reilly, an English professor of chemical biology at University College Dublin.
They married in June 2016 in a lavish ceremony attended by friends and family.
The couple had two children together: Harry, born on September 1, 2017, and Molly, born in 2020.
