Netflix announced the series’ production in September 2020. Vicente Amorim was named the series director and showrunner.

Similarly, Gabriel Leone was cast as Seena in March 2023, and the series was shot in Sao Paulo and Angra dos Reis with additional filming sites.

The “Senna” follows the life of Ayrton Seena from the beginning of his racing career in Formula Ford to the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
