Prayers For Aida Ashcraft, 18, Hamilton County Basketball Senior, Who Chooses ACL Surgery Over Braces, With Parents By Her Side

Dahlgren, Illinois: Aida Ashcraft is a basketball senior from Hamilton Country High School who recently suffered a torn ACL.

She thanked everyone who supported her and reached out to her during the challenging time.

She played volleyball for six years but retired in October 2024. It was hard for her to give up on volleyball, which challenged her physically and mentally.

During her time, she gathered many memories and lifelong lessons while playing a white ball in a court with 12 people. She was named to the All-Tournament team at today’s Marion Lady Wildcat Volleyball Invitational.

Hamilton Country has recognized her achievements on and off the court, including being named the December Student of the Month. Likewise, she has been a Secretary for the Sophomore Class.

Moreover, she thanked Hamilton County’s coaches, teammates, and family for their constant support.

Aida Ashcraft Prefered ACL Surgery Over Braces

Aida felt grateful for the support and concern shown throughout the community and other towns during her tough times. Similarly, she thanked everyone who had kept her in their prayers.

On February 15, she updated her well-wisher with sad news about her torn ACL via social media.

Doctors gave her a couple of options, but she chose to have ACL surgery as soon as possible instead of risking it in a brace and finishing out senior sports this year.

The basketball senior continues to ask for prayers while on this long road to recovery from this new challenge. She is a religious person who believes in God’s way of life.

Thus, she is thankful for those who prayed for her. She believes whatever God has planned for her will be much greater than this minor setback.

Her supporters motivate her and pray for her successful surgery and recovery. Some even believed it was wise for her to choose ACL surgery over braces, which was a commitment to her health and future in basketball.

Moreover, her fans look forward to watching her play in the spring.

Aida Ashcraft, the daughter of Dan Ashcraft and Melinda Ashcraft, was born in Dahlgren, Illinois, on December 2, 2006. Her parents raised her alongside her two siblings.

Just like Aida, her younger sister, Kelsie Ashcraft, is in the sports and plays softball, volleyball, and basketball.
