Portland State’s Ashley Peterson Makes Her Parents Jennifer And Brad Peterson Proud With Soccer Triumphs

In the 200 meters, Ashley's brother Logan set another personal record with a 23.81-second finish at the same meet.

Ashley Peterson made her parents proud by winning the Academic All-Big Sky award.

Ashley, a multi-sport athlete at Canby High School, earned 13 varsity letters in cross country, track and field, soccer, softball, and swimming.

In the 2024 indoor season, she ran the 400-meter leg of the Vikings’ distance medley relay, which finished 10th in 12:53.65 at the Big Sky Indoor Championships.

She shaved nearly two seconds off her personal best in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:00.75 at the Portland.

Peterson made her track debut at the UW Indoor Preview, competing in three events: the 200 meters (28.57 seconds), 400 meters (1:03.50), and long jump (14-00.25, 4.27m).

In the 2024 outdoor season, she set personal bests in the 200 and 400 meters at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, finishing in 26.41 and 58.56 seconds, respectively, while placing 18th and 16th in the prelims of each event.

She also ran the opening leg of the Vikings’ 4*400 meter relay, which set a seasonal best with a finish in 3:56.92 at the Big Sky meet.

In the 2025 indoor season, Ashley ran on the Vikings’ 4*400 meter relay, setting a seasonal best with a finish in 4:57.07 at the Riverfront.

Ashley is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing at Portland State University.

She is also an assistant soccer coach for Westside Metros FC.

Ashley Peterson’s Parents Supported Her In Achieving Her Athletic Dreams

Ashley Peterson, 21, was born in 2004 in Canby, Oregon, United States, to her father, Brad, and her mother, Jennifer Engelgau Peterson.

Although her parents managed to avoid the media spotlight, they always supported Ashley and attended her games to cheer.

In addition, Ashley frequently appears on her mother, Jennifer’s official Facebook handle.

Her mother, Jennifer, was born to her father, Rob, and her mother, Chris Engelgau, in Portland. She had a close bond with her grandmother, Eula Decker.

Jennifer grew up with her brother Evan Engelgau, a graduate of Rex Putnam High School and Portland State University.

Evan was employed at Wells Fargo Bank as a Financial Crimes Analyst. He had two children, Kellan and Audrey, with his wife.

Sadly, he passed away on August 12, 2017. A celebration of Life for Evan was held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Ashley Peterson Grew Up Along With Her Brother Logan Peterson

Ashley Peterson has one younger brother, Logan Peterson. Although his exact age has not been revealed, his physical appearance suggests he is in his late 20s.

Logan is a standout athlete who played football as a freshman at Canby High School and is making waves in track and field.

Competing unattached during the 2025 indoor season, he has demonstrated impressive speed and versatility.

At the 2024 Spokane Speed Games, he clocked a 7.42-second personal record in the 60-meter dash.

He also posted a 50.57-second time in the 400 meters, which he later improved to 50.41 seconds at the Stacy Dragila High School Invitational on February 8, 2025.
