Philadelphia 76ers Forward, Caleb Martin Mother Jenny Bennett Singlehandedly Raised Him Along With His Two Siblings

Caleb's brother Raheem is pursuing a Master's in Adult and Lifelong Learning at Arkansas.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Caleb Martin gifted a brand new car to his mother on Thanksgiving day in 2020.

The Philadelphia 76ers walked away with a big-time 118-114 win over the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day.

Highlights

  • Caleb Martin and his team, the Philadelphia 46ers, defeated the Boston Celtics 118-114.
  • Martin’s mother, Jenny Bennett, was kicked out of her house for raising biracial children.
  • He grew up with his twin brother, Chris Martin, and an older brother, Raheem Martin.

Sixers forward Caleb Martin had a considerable night, going for a season-high 23 points while knocking down a career-high seven triples on nine attempts.

Entering the contest, Martin had made only 18 3s in the entire season, but he is a noted Celtics killer.

He shot 44% from deep in the 2024 playoffs against Boston and 48.9& from deep in the 2023 Eastern Conference finals against them.

Still, the Celtics decided not to focus on him as they revealed a questionable game plan after the loss.

However, considering his success against them, it isn’t clear whether the Celtics willingly kept Martin open in this one.

Boston’s defense must focus on Joel Embiidm, Tyrese Maxer, and Paul George, but Martin regularly targets them.

Caleb Martin’s Mother, Jenny Bennett, Was Kicked Out Of Her House

The Philadelphia 46ers forward Caleb Martin, 29, was born on September 28, 1995, to his mother, Jenny Bennett, and his father, Chris Martin.

Caleb’s father, Chris Martin, was never involved in his life, so there is no information about his personal life.

Jenny became a mother during her teenage years and was kicked out of her house. As a result, she endured racism as a white mom to biracial children.

That included waking up one morning to a burning cross in her yard and was once chased by a truck.

Jenny raised her children in a 300-square-foot trailer in Cooleemee, North Carolina, a town with just over 900 residents.

Caleb’s mother struggled to work three jobs to help raise her children. She once worked as a scan analyst at Food Lion, a local grocery store.

Jenny woke up at 2 a.m. every morning and tried to be home by 3 p.m. to be with her children after school.

She often went without dinner so her children could have a second helping of food.

The basketball star greatly respects his mother for her contributions to his life. During an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal, Caleb said,

I have a crazy, crazy amount of respect for many moms and all the stuff she’s gone through. Cody and I will reminisce about our childhood, and we will not notice all of the stuff she didn’t let us in on when we were little, all of the things we realize now. It was hard, but she made a lot of sacrifices, like not eating certain nights and passing up job opportunities because she had no help at home and had to be there for us.

Moreover, in an interview with the CBS Evening News, Caleb credited his mom for who he is today. Following the interview, his mother, Jenny, wiped away tears and said,

“I’m super proud. I don’t know if they even understand how proud I am of him,”

In December 2020, Caleb bought her mother a new car. Caleb wrote on his Instagram Story, alongside a photo of Jenny cheesing from the driver’s seat,

Caleb Martin’s mother is originally from the United States and holds white ethnicity, while his father is reportedly black and has a history with Africa.

Therefore, Caleb holds African-American ethnicity. He grew up with his two siblings, Raheem and Cody Lee Martin.

It is unclear if Caleb and Cody have the same father as their older brother Raheem, who is also biracial.

Raheem, 33, was born in 1992 and is pursuing a Master’s in Adult and Lifelong Learning at Arkansas.

In the summer of 2022, he was elevated to student-athlete development coordinator after serving two seasons (2020-22) as a graduate assistant with the Razorbacks.

Cody Lee Martin, 29, was born in 1995. He is Caleb Martin’s twin brother.
