Pete Rose Brother David Rose Wanted A Closer Relationship With Him

Pete Rose arguably signed more autographs than any ballplayer in MLB history.

Pete Rose engraved his name as a baseball legend with his years of dedication to his craft in the field.

Sadly, his time came to an end as he passed away at the age of 83. The Clark County medical examiner confirmed his passing on October 1, 2024.

Highlights

  • Pete Rose has a younger brother named David Rose, and growing up, they helped each other hone their baseball skills.
  • Pete’s brother David was an assistant baseball coach at Mooresville High School.
  • Due to Pete’s hectic schedule, he and David struggled to find time for each other, which David disliked.

According to reports, he died from hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with diabetes mellitus also being a contributing factor.

He passed away at his home in Las Vegas. One of his family members found his lifeless body, and it was confirmed that there was no foul play.

Throughout his career, Pete Rose set the record for the most career hits in Major League Baseball history.

Talking about the number, the 17-time All-Star achieved a remarkable total of 4,256 hits. This record remains unmatched, and he still owns it.

Pete Rose Brother David Rose Desired A Closer Bond

Pete Rose has a brother named David Rose. However, there is hardly any report on him.

The Indy Star sheds some light on Pete’s brother. The website features a report by Gregg Doyel, who interviewed Pete’s younger brother David.

Their conversation reveals that David wants to be closer to his famous sibling. In a rare interview with Gregg Doyel of IndyStar in 2015, David shared his feelings, saying,

“We could be closer. I’ll be straight up with you. He’s the star. I have to call him.”

Despite Pete’s fame, David has created his own life, chasing his own interests while backing his brother’s career. Professionally, David has worn many hats.

David worked as a cook, making meals at Pit Stop and even at his brother Pete’s restaurant in Boca Raton.

Outside the kitchen, David has worked as a paramedic and once ran a Popeye’s franchise in Cincinnati

His diverse job history highlights his flexibility and strong work habits, qualities that carry over to his passion for baseball.

Unsurprisingly, David’s roots in baseball go deep. He excelled as a player, making the all-state team as a second baseman on the 1967 Western Hills High School state champion squad.

Unfortunately, even with his skills, he found it challenging to step out of his brother’s limelight in their Cincinnati hometown.

Still, David has always supported Pete’s career, and in 2015, he taught high school baseball.

He was active as an assistant baseball coach at Mooresville High. Furthermore, he showed interest in coaching for as long as he could.

While the Rose brothers might not be as tight as David hopes, their shared enthusiasm for baseball keeps them connected. Nevertheless, despite Pete’s busy life, the sibling duo stayed in touch every once a year.

Regarding the location of Pete’s younger brother, it has been reported that he resides in Brownsburg, Indiana.
