JP Midkiff, a father from Gulf Shores, Alabama, shared a Facebook post clearing allegations against his family after a cheerleading coach was removed from the program for forcing his injured daughter, Abby, to perform.
In his post, he addressed accusations that his family was “entitled” or threatening legal action to remove a coach, which he firmly denied.
JP claims that many students and parents are accusing his family of trying to remove the coach through a legal lawsuit, but that is not what actually happened.

In the post, JP explains that the controversy began with his daughter, Abby, who had a pre-existing shoulder injury.
According to JP, despite notifying the coach and the school of Abby’s medical limitations and pending surgery, the coach required her to continue performing physical exercises, including sit-ups.
This led to her shoulder dislocating again. JP emphasized that this was not discipline but negligence, a situation he claims has affected other athletes as well.
JP described a pattern of behavior by the coach, including ignoring doctors’ notes, dismissing medical advice, and creating a culture of bullying.
After reporting these issues to the school through the proper channels, Abby was reportedly singled out and targeted by her peers.
He clarified that no lawsuits were threatened and that all claims were supported with documented evidence, including emails, videos, and records of violations under Alabama tort law, Title IX, and federal whistleblower protections.
An independent review conducted by the superintendent confirmed additional instances of misconduct.
Another coach from a separate program also filed a report alleging child abuse and neglect in the Gulf Shores cheer program.
With all the evidence and statements from officials, JP appears to stand against the allegations made against his family firmly.
