Olympic Athlete, Lauren Macuga Makes Parents Dan And Amy Macuga Proud With Her First Alpine Skiing World Cup Win

Lauren Macuga won the St. Anton super-G by 0.68 seconds over Austria's Stephanie Venier.

Lauren Macuga won her first FIS Alpine Ski World Cup on January 12, 2025, by winning the super-G race in St. Anton, Austria.

American World Cup alpine ski racer Lauren Macuga competes for the U.S. Ski Team. She began taking part in the FIS race in December 2018.

Initially, Macuga competed in all disciplines and achieved her first victory at this level in February 2019.

Lauren Macuga is the 2022 World Juniors bronze medalist. She spent her first World Cup season on the speed tour in the 2022-23 season, where she scored her first World Cup points in St. Moritz downhill.

Lauren Macuga’s Father, Dan Macuga, Works As Chief Marketing Officer, And Her Mother, Amy Macuga Is A Former Waterskier

Macuga was born and raised in Park City. Utah is the second kid of four children of her parents, Dan and Amy Burton Macuga.

Mr. Dan Macuga works as chief marketing and communications officer at USANA Health Science Inc.

Similarly, he is previously associated with business for Chrysler LLC and Morey Boogie Bodyboards.

Moreover, Dan played basketball at the University of California San Diego. Like the same, Lauren’s mother competed as a waterskier.

Lauren Macuga’s parents met at UC San Diego and married in 1995. When in college, though they were involved in sports, they did not compete in winter sports.

Moreover, Dan and Amy did enjoy their time Skiing. Lauren’s father, Dan, learned to ski in Lake Tahoe, California, and her mother, Amy, Skied in Lake Loveland, Colorado.

She was a snowboarder actually, and she was like, ‘alright, I’m going to learn to ski and you guys are all coming with me. We didn’t do ski school or anything; she just kind of took all four of us.

Lauren Macuga Has Three Aiblings, All Of Whom Are Accomplished Skiers

Macuga is part of a remarkable family of athletes. With the inspiration and guidance of her parents, Dan and Amy, Lauren and her three siblings are involved in winter sports, mainly Skiing.

Lauren’s elder sister, Sam Macuga, born in 2001, competes in Nordic Ski Jumping on the U.S. Ski Team.

She balanced her athletic career with academic pursuits at Dartmouth College, where she studied electrical engineering.

Every spring, Sam takes a break from being a professional athlete and attends college; she is expected to graduate in 2027.

Similarly, Lauren’s younger sister, Alli Macuga, born in 2003, competes in mogul skiing and is part of the U.S. Ski Team’s Freestyle Mogul team.

In 2023, she was named Rookie of the Year on the World Cup Tour, and in 2024, she achieved two podium sports.

Furthermore, the youngest of the family, Daniel Macuga, born in 2005, races Downhill, Super G, and Slalom in the men’s races.

Daniel draws inspiration from his sisters and aims to join the U.S. Ski Team.
