Bear Raiders Week 5 London 2019

Bears Raiders Week 5 Preview

The Chicago Bears cross the pond to face off against the Raiders in Week 5

Another week of football is here! Bears Raiders Week 5 is gonna be so special for both teams. The same Oakland organization that surrendered Khalil Mack and Eddie Pineiro in separate trades to Chicago. The Bears come to say thank you.

The Chicago Bears (3-1) travel to London to face off against the $100 million Coach and his Raiders (2-2) organization. Chicago still has a lot of question marks on who will play even after a big win last week. Uncertainty surrounds players like Akiem Hicks, Mitchell Trubisky, Taylor Gabriel, and even Roquan Smith. The Bears have landed overseas to personally thank Oakland for not one but two contributors. They are taking their talents international to greet the Raiders in the trenches of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The last time these two teams met Chicago edged Oakland 22-20 back in 2015. The Bears are a five-point favorite following a lopsided win over Minnesota. A win that solidified this organization in the upper echelon of the NFL. Their defense has struck fear in the eyes of everyone it has faced. They share the NFC division lead with the Packers. The Raiders are proving to be a pesky unit after last week’s victory over the Colts. Ultimately, this one will be decided like most who cross Chicago’s path. The defense will strangle the life out of the opposing quarterback.

The next man up notion played out last week for Chicago. They plan to follow suit this week with former No.2 overall pick sidelined with a separated non-throwing shoulder. Chase Daniel hopes to continue with the same patience, accuracy, and timely throws from last week. Matt Nagy has yet to find the perfect recipe for his offense to flourish. That is scary considering they already have three victories verse one loss. If and when the offense does click, it will be hard to imagine anyone beating this team.

A whole lot needs to improve offensively in order for that to happen. This may be the perfect week to unleash the running game. Although, the offensive line has been less than stellar. The swapping of James Daniels and Cody Whitehair isn’t going as smoothly as designed while Kyle Long is a shell of his old self. This formula is stalling a more than capable backfield of Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, and Mike Davis. It is what it is at this point and Coach Nagy needs to work out the kinks soon. This defense can’t keep this pace up forever. Can it? Bears Raiders Week 5 will prove crucial.

Mack and his Monsters of the Midway seek and destroy everything in their path. The Raiders will have their hands full against this defensive unit that only yields 11.2 points/game. This is one of Chicago’s best starts to a season since the ’85 Bears, holding opponents to 45 total points through four games. The roster is absolutely stacked on this side of the ball. Mack not only has several contributors who start but also impact players that weren’t even drafted. Roy Robertson-Harris and Nick Williams have combined for 6.5 sacks. Each was an undrafted gem from the gallows of the free-agent pool.

That is a unit that has to have Derek Carr shaking in his boots. He and his offensive teammates will have no place to hide and no place to run. The Raiders will have a hard time finding the end zone in this one. Gruden will have a lot to grimace on the sidelines this Sunday.

Bears Raiders Week 5 Prediction

The Bears continue building momentum defensively while beating Oakland with a dink and dunk game plan that plays into Daniel’s strengths. Bears win 24-13.

Until Sunday, stay thirsty and BEAR DOWN! JT out.
