The Arizona Cardinals made the only move at the NFL Supplemental Draft today, acquiring former Washington State Safety Jalen Thompson for a fifth-round pick. The selection of Thompson means the Cards will give up their fifth-round pick in the 2020 Draft.
The NFL supplemental draft is available for players whose eligibility situations changed after the January declaration deadline for the regular draft.
The 5’11”, 190-pound Safety was ineligible for the 2019 Draft after a rule’s violation. It was widely reported that Thompson had a non-negative result to an over-the-counter supplement and was suspended.
Thompson recorded 140 tackles and six intercepts over the last two seasons. He was also named to the All-Pac 12 second team in 2017.
He will now join a stacked backfield for the Cards who have veterans D.J Swearinger, Budda Baker and former Alabama rookie Deionte Thompson.
It’s going to be a fun training camp in Arizona.
