Carson Wentz To Dak Prescott - Time For New Deal

The Eagles aren't known for lending a helping hand to the Cowboys. Whether we're talking about Michael Irvin laying motionless on the field, or Buddy Ryan putting a bounty on Troy Aikman's head, the Eagles have no love for the 'Boys. This Carson Wentz contract, however, all but solidifies Dak Prescott's hefty pay raise.

Wentz just signed a four-year extension for 128 million dollars with a mind-blowing 107.9 million guaranteed. That works out to about 32 million per year with a chance for even more with incentives. Prescott is scheduled to make just a little over 2 million for the 2019 season which will be the final year on his rookie deal.

It's been reported that Dallas has sent its QB an offer but they are nowhere close to a deal. Thanks to the Russell Wilson and recent Carson Wentz contracts, the market has changed. At the end of last season, there was talk of Dak possibly getting 20 to 25 million a year. That number could be increased to at least 30 or even 35 million now that other QBs in the league have negotiated deals.

Jerry and the front office could play the Dak deal a few ways. They could get a "discount" and guarantee the entire contract like Minnesota did with Kirk Cousins. They could also up the ante and pay Dak more than what the Eagles just shelled out to Wentz. The Cowboys could also decide to play hardball and throw the "franchise tag" out there and convince Dak to go team friendly.

One thing is certain-this negotiation will be a huge factor in shaping the future of this franchise. With players like Amari Cooper, Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, and Ezekiel Elliot wanting extensions of their own, Jerry better get this one right.
