NFL Picks Week 11

NFL Week 1 – Still America’s Game

Week 1 of the NFL Season is (almost) in the bag. We do still have 4 teams to go on  Monday Night Football, yet why wait? There is a ton to talk about. Cannonball!

NFL Week 1

TNF – Packers 10 Bears 3

Had to mention it. INCREDIBLE game if you love defense. Both clubs brought their A-game. If you love offense AND you are a Bears fan, well, you went home with a sour taste in your mouth. Glad daBears got that whole kicker thing taken care of. They are going to need him.

Rams 30 Panthers 27

What a game. The Rams totally dominated, until they didn’t and the Panthers came roaring back. The Gurly/Brown backfield tandem works. Cam Newton’s arm looks fine though he still has occasional Eli Manning disease. Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey? Look up “total stud” in the dictionary.

Redskins 27 Eagles 32

The birds had to come back to win this one. The Redskins came darn close but had a bad 3rd quarter and that was the difference. Make no bones about it. The NFC East is one tough division in 2019.  That Wentz kid, he’s going to be ok. 28 of 39 for 313 yards and 3 TD’s. That works.

Bills 17 Jets 16

The best thing that can happen to a lot of teams is playing the Jets in NFL Week 1. Few teams can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like his New York club can. As soon as the Jets learn how to play 4 vs 3 quarters they will win some games.

Falcons 12 Vikings 28

Blink, blink, blink. No. I did not see this coming. Someone just dialed back the clock 2 years and Vikings QB Kirk Cousins looked like the guy they gave a huge guaranteed contract to. The running game looked like it was designed to be with Dalvin Cook ripping off 111 yards and 2 TD’s and Mattison tabbing 49 more. The defense was all over the field and the Vikings look like … well .. the Vikings. The Birds looked lost.

Ravens 59 Dolphins 10

Are you kidding me? Ravens QB Lamar Jackson goes 17/20 324 yards and FIVE TD’s? He ran 3 times for 2 yards. Again. He passed for FIVE (count ’em) 5 touchdowns. Mark Ingram added 2 on the ground with a 7.6 average. Throw in a dominating defensive performance and you just may have a team that can give the Patriots a serious run. Jackson pun intended. FIVE touchdowns. Did I mention that?

Chiefs 40 Jaguars 26

The Jaguars look better than they did last season. Unfortunately for them, so do the Chiefs. However, the ONLY thing anyone wants or needs to discuss is Patrick Mahomes ankle injury. He will either “be fine” or “be limited for awhile” or … you get the gist. We will have to wait and see. Ok, everyone … holding our collective breath in 3, 2, 1 ….

Titans 43 Browns 13

The Browns are still the Browns and (to be frank) that is on them. The talent is there, the front office and staff are still highly suspect. That being said, is this the season Mariota puts it all together?!?!? 14 of 24 for 248 yards and 3 TD’s. Derrick Henry threw in a nice 4.4 average and a TD himself and all of a sudden this team looks solid. If those two offensive pieces can have a season then this team has a chance.

Colts 24 Chargers 30

WOW. WOW. WOW. This is football. As the Boltz pull out the overtime victory there is a ton of information to digest. Cutting to the chase the Colts are for real, regardless of their Luck. Offense and defense this team is built to compete. On the flip side, the LA Chargers have Philip Rivers at QB. The 2 headed RB committee of Ekeler and Jackon produced 115 yards, 1 TD and a 6.3 average with Jackson’s being an eye-popping 9.5 yards-per-carry. Do they miss Gordon? In a word, YES. The Boltz will be better when he gets back (reportedly) in the week 6-8 range. About then they should also be getting all-world DB Derwin James back. That is a scary thought.

Bengals 20 Seahawks 21

Bengals “almost” stold one as Dalton set a Bengals record going 35 of 51 for 418 yards 2 TD’s and zero interceptions. The Seahawks totally shut down the Bengals running game and the difference was the 12th man. Both teams have a lot of work to do but the tools to get there are on board.

49ers 31 Buccaneers 17

It isn’t 2018 anymore for the 49ers! Read what our own Matt Woolsey has to say about it by clicking here!

Giants 17 Cowboys 35

Sometimes the score tells the story. Sometimes it doesn’t. The ‘Boys dominated. Dak Prescott had a perfect QB rating going 25 of 32 for 405 yards and 4 TD’s. Yes, his payday is coming. Ezekiel Elliott looked in shape, rusty and dangerous. The Cowboys WR corps looks deep and daunting. Witten is back. The defense has depth on all 3 lines. Special Teams got the job done. A Super Bowl run is the only thing they are talking about in big D.

But the New York Giants are just a few pieces away IMO. They were in the game till late in the 2nd quarter when the score started to get away from them. Saquon Barkley is the second coming of Barry Sanders. They have talent at WR and their QB of the future looked solid, right up to the moment he coughed up the ball which has been a problem for him in college and the preseason. Their defense looks ok EXCEPT they need some help pressuring the QB. They do that and this team can come together.

Lions 27 Cardinals 27

A tie. Detroit Lions vs Arizona Cardinals. Welcome to mediocrity in prime time. The game itself was quite entertaining and you can see the talent on the field on both teams. Yet you can also see the dysfunction. Regardless the Cardinals have hit a home run with Kyler Murray though he will have a LOT of growing pains. Conversely, the Lions have a total stud in TE T.J. Hockenson. You want him in your fantasy football lineup!

Steelers 3 Patriots 33

Yep, my tweet pretty much sums it all up. Brown and Bell are ROFL.
