49ers Drama Continues With Another Loss

STL Audio Post

Bad teams will find bad ways to lose. The Buccaneers’ defense has been terrible this season. They have given up on average over 30 points a game and almost 400 total yards. The 49ers’ offense scored a grand total of nine points and only had 342 total yards. Nick Mullens who had not been sacked in either of his two previous starts, was sacked four times and he threw two interceptions.

A Day of Drama

In a day full of drama with the 49ers cutting former first-round pick Reuben Foster, the 49ers have their own demons to deal with this season. I was really surprised at how inefficient the offense was today. I expected a lot more, and in fact a win from the 49ers today. The loss keeps the all-over number pick in their back pocket. But you want to see improvement and what I saw today was some regression from the entire team.

Mullens’s throws were completely off target. He was completing 70% of his passes before today’s game. But only completed 56% of his passes against the Buccaneers. The offensive line was keeping Mullens clean prior to today. But Mullens was under consistent pressure and took the four sacks.

Richard Sherman played his worst game of the year since joining the 49ers getting beat by Mike Evans on a few occasions. The team took a few steps forward prior to the bye week but took about 10 steps back against Tampa Bay.

If the 49ers had lost but were in the game the entire time it would have been an easier pill to swallow. But they never really seemed to be in the game. They were beat on both sides of the ball. It’s frustrating, I’m going to lie, I understand why fans divorce their favorite team. I’m not going to, I’m Red and Gold till I’m dead and cold, but I get it.

2-14 A Possibility?

The 49ers’ remaining schedule is not an easy one, and I honestly would not be surprised if this team loses out. They couldn’t score against one of the worst defenses in the league. How will they do against the Seahawks, Rams, and Bears? 2018 is a rough year for the team and its fans.

If it ain’t football news, is it worth reading?
