NFL Cornerback Kris Boyd’s brother, DeMarco Boyd, had his football dream cut short following a Class A Misdemeanor Charge

Same roots, different paths!

NFL star and cornerback for the New York Jets, Kris Boyd, and his brother, DeMarco, were both college athletes at the University of Texas.

Kris Boyd played at Texas from 2015 to 2018, whereas DeMarco enrolled in 2016. Both brothers were born in Gilmer, Texas, and played over 13 games together for the Longhorns.

DeMarco, when sharing the dressing room, posted a heartwarming message for his brother, who still lives with Kris Boyd to this day. He wrote;

 A bond nobody can break – The only person who knows me . My ugly ass twin Tunchie, Dry Lips, crusty Knees brother! Love you boss man!

Even though both brothers grew up dreaming of playing in the NFL, only one brother could make it to the biggest stage of Football.

The Minnesota Vikings drafted Kris in the Seventh round (345th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he has since played for other teams, including the Arizona Cardinals, the Houston Texans, and the New York Jets.

However, just under a year before the draft, his brother, DeMarco, had to go through a tough phase in his life, which restricted him from playing football.

An Accident that Changed the Career

On July 4, 2018, he was involved in a multi-car crash in West Austin, and he allegedly confronted the driver.

He reportedly said, “What did you do to my brother?” before assaulting the man. Boyd was later charged with a Class A misdemeanor for “assault with injury,” as the victim suffered a severe concussion, facial swelling, and a black eye.

This carried a penalty of up to one year in prison and a further $4000 fine if he was convicted. However, the outcome of the case was never publicly disclosed.

The University of Texas immediately suspended him from all football activities soon after the incident.

When the case was registred the University said thwy would, “they would “monitor the legal process … and pending its completion, determine any further action.”

A year later, UT confirmed that DeMarco Boyd was no longer part of the Longhorns football program, keeping his footballing dream on hold.

Reports suggest that he attempted to transfer from Texas after graduating at the end of 2019, in the hope of playing in the NCAA, but that move never materialized.

DeMarco, after the incident, never played football at the college or professional level, ending his dream of playing Football forever.
