With the 2019 College Football season now upon us let’s take a look at the best games to watch this season. What does the 150th season of College Football have in store for us? Can Trevor Lawrence lead Clemson to back to back National Titles? Will Nick Saban and Alabama get back to the big dance in January? Could there be an unsung hero of the season like Georgia or LSU? Only time will tell.
Let’s take a look at the 10 best college football games to watch in 2019.
Auburn v Oregon: Week One
This is a big game as both teams look to start their campaign off on the right note.
How will Oregon QB Justin Herbert handle the impressive D-line of the Auburn Tigers? Players like Marlin Davidson, Derrick Brown, Nick Coe and the ever-reliant Big Kat Bryant coming for you, won’t be an easy task for Herbert. He needs to man up and show the world why he should be ranked above Tua Tagovailoa in the 2020 NFL Draft.
LSU @ Texas: Week Two
This is set to be a huge game for both teams early in the season as they looked to finish the season in contention for the playoffs. The Longhorns opened the season ranked 10th and LSU are at 6th. This matchup is building into a nice little rivalry for both teams and this will be a cracking game that you should not miss.
Clemson @ Syracuse: Week Three
QB Sensational Trevor “Sunshine” Lawrence will look to impose himself against two of the best edge rushers in the league. Syracuse’s Alton Robinson and Kendall Coleman will be out for blood as they face the best QB in the last decade.
Evan Foster will line up for the home team as well and is one of the best tackles in the College Football.
Clemson has some incredible talent on offense and will post plenty of points in this game. Look for Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, and Travis Etienne to have huge impacts.
Georgia @ Tennessee: Week Six
This could be a tough game for the Georgia Bulldogs. The Vols are a hard team to come up against, especially at home. Edge rusher Darrell Taylor is one of the most dangerous rushers in the league. Now in his fifth season, he has experience behind him as well as being incredible talent and possesses a natural skill set.
He will probably line up against Bulldogs OT Andrew Thomas, who is in my top 10 players for the 2020 Draft. This kid is something else.
This battle alone is worth tuning in for.
Utah State @ LSU: Week Six
Utah State QB Jordan Love will come face to face with one of the best defensive units in collegiate football, the LSU Tigers. He won’t be able to put a foot wrong. Any downfield pass will be picked off by Kristian Fulton or Grant Delpit if it is slightly askew. He must have faith in his O-line to protect him as the Tigers won’t hold back on the young man will the pill in his hand.
This is set to be a great matchup for both teams, LSU coming off their first bye week, looking to be fresh and ready to rock on a tough stretch which starts with Utah State at home,
This is one game you don’t want to miss.
Auburn @ Florida: Week Six
This battle between two of the SEC heavyweights will be one to mark on the calendar. Both teams will be looking to cement their pace at the top of their respective conferences when this game gets under way. Both teams have an easier run than usual in the opening five weeks and this match upstarts a hard run for them as they face LSU, Alabama, and Georgia in the coming weeks.
This is an important game for both teams. It’s imperative that you get the wins when they are on offer. Don’t miss this one.
Colorado @ Utah: Week 14 Rivalry Round
This is the game to watch from a scouting perspective. Some of these matchups are incredible. Colorado WR Laviska Shenault comes up against Utah CB Jaylon Johnson. Both these guys are in the top 10 of their respective positions for the 2020 NFL Draft
Utah has a massive front 7 and will look to impose that on the Colorado defense.
Colorado CB Delrick Abrams commands respect in the backfield and will show the world what he can do when these teams match up in week 14.
Ohio State @ Michigan: Week 14 Rivalry Round
There are so many weapons on offense for both these teams, expect this to be an incredibly high scoring game. QB Shea Patterson will lead the Wolverines and he has plenty of talent around him.
Wolverines WRs Donovan People-Jones, Nico Collins and Tariq Black are all set to be top 50 Draft prospects in 2020, will look to apply the pressure on the scoreboard in this one. The Buckeyes DBs Jeffery Okudah and Shaun Wey will have other ideas, as they try to stop the excellent Wolverines offense.
They can hold their own on offense though, with QB Justin Fields is one of the best young QBs in the nation and will link up nicely with the likes of RBs sensation J.K. Dobbins and WRs K.J. Hill, Binjimen Victor and Austin Mack.
This game will be a shoot out between two stacked offensive units. The Buckeyes have another trick up their sleeve with arguably the best pass rusher in the nation and a guy who is in the top 3 on my 2020 Big Board, Chase Young.
Young will certainly have something to say about Shea Patterson having free reign on the football field. This is a huge game for both teams and individual players who are pushing for Senior Bowl invites, the Combine and the all-important Draft in April.
Notre Dame @ Stanford: Week 14
It doesn’t get much bigger than this rivalry matchup. There is no love lost between these two old rivals. There are multiple 1 v 1 matchups in this game, you are crazy if you miss it. This game is also big for those of you looking at this from a Draft perspective.
Paulson Adebo, the CB for Stanford Cardinals is already on NFL teams’ radars. He is expected to be taken in the 1st round in next year’s Draft. He will have his work cut out for him as the faces WRs Chase Claypool and Chris Finke. Both of whom as exceptional talents in their own right.
Stanford RT Walker Little will have to be on is game to stop the best three-way combination of edge rushers you will see this season. Julian Okwara, Kareem Khalid and Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa. These guys are deadly on the ball and will pester the Stanford Offense all day.
And last but certainly not least is the matchup between Colby Parkinson the Stanford TE and Alohi Gilman the Safety from Notre Dame. This is going to be an excellent match between two archrivals and plenty of talented prospect on the field.
Alabama @ Auburn: Week 14
This is going to be one for the ages. These two rivals meet in the final week of the season and it could all come down to this for either team as they look towards the SEC Title game in the weeks to follow. Alabama has been the benchmark for the last decade in College Football, but Auburn are no pushovers. They can hold their own in a dog fight and this is what you will get.
Auburn looks to be putting the ball into the hands of freshman QB Bo Nix this season. Nix will be protected by the two of the best tackles in the game in Prince Wanogho and Jack Driscoll. But can they score enough points? You know the Crimson Tide will put points on you at will.
Names like WRs Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III will be shown the football more in an air raid style offense this season. RB sensation Najee Harris will continue to gain easy yards downfield as well as helping in the passing game.
There are so many variables in this one. We all know we are going to get a good show from these young men.
