The Big Ten is back! After five weeks since it announced it was canceling College Football this fall. The school presidents have voted unanimously to return on October 24th.
An eight-game season across eight weekends will mean the Big Ten championship will take place on December 19th.
Big Ten President Kevin Warren coped a lot of flack from all angles over the decision to postpone football in the fall. The reverse comes amid new testing protocols, availability of rapid testing, and the locations of schools involved in the league.
With just five weeks until the kick-off, teams will be back training tomorrow and ready to go come the 24th.
The CFB Playoff selection committee meets on December 20th to decide the make-up of the playoffs. This would mean, all going to plan, the Big Ten can have a representative in the final four this season.
This leaves the Pac-12 as the only Power Five conference still sitting on the sidelines. A statement from them released shortly after the Bug Ten news read, California and Oregon don’t have approval from state and local health officials to start contact practice. New testing protocols are being put to them to alleviate the problem.
Expect players who opted out to focus on the NFL Draft to come back in some form.
