A 29-year-old woman said that she was touched inappropriately by Charlie Baker’s son, A.J. Baker.
NCAA president Charlie Baker was the subject of harsh scrutiny after defending the organization’s current policies that have allowed trans athletes to compete against women during a senate hearing on Tuesday.
Highlights
- Charles Baker got into a heated exchange about transgender athletes on college teams and in locker rooms.
- Andrew A.J. Baker was accused of physically abusing a woman on a JetBlue flight.
- However, no charges were filed in the case.
Baker addressed the issue during an interview on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
When Pat McAfee asked Baker how the parents of daughters should feel about trans athletes in women’s sports and the NCAA’s record on it, the president made it a point to minimize the impact of the issue. Baker said,
At the hearing, Baker also suggested that women athletes who feel alienated by sharing a locker room with trans athletes “should have an opportunity to use other facilities if they wish to do so.”
On Thursday, Baker repeated the same justification for the NCAA’s policies during the interview with McAfee.
He referenced five recent court rulings that have enabled trans athletes to compete against biological females in the last 15 months.
Only one ruling enabled a trans athlete to compete at the college level. He has not explicitly identified other cases but mentioned that some have occurred at the high school level.
No Charges Have Been Filed Against A.J. Baker Following Physical Abuse Incident On JetBlue Flight
One of Charles Baker’s three adult children, A.J. Baker, 31, born in 1994, graduated in 2016 from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and played wide receiver on the school’s football team.
The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, accused Andrew “A.J.” Baker of physically assaulting her on a JetBlue flight from Washington, DC, to Boston on June 20, 2018.
Police reports indicated that the incident occurred approximately 45 minutes into the flight.
In addition, the captain of the JetBlue flight told the police that he had considered diverting the flight to New York after he learned about the alleged incident but ultimately decided against it since Boston was the same distance away.
JetBlue stated that the aircraft landed at Boston’s Logan International Airport at approximately 11 p.m., where local authorities met it.
As per the source, the woman told the police officers that she was “touched inappropriately” by A.J. Baker. She even accused Baker of groping her breast during a flight.
One witness, whose identity has not been revealed, told the police that she saw Baker “lean over” toward the woman “a couple of times.”
Another witness said she heard the woman say to Baker, “Don’t do that, ” and asked a flight attendant to move her seat.
A third witness in the police report said the woman could be heard explicitly and firmly telling him to stop before standing up to get a flight attendant’s attention.
Later, after the woman moved to a different seat, Baker conversed with the flight attendant.
He told a trooper that he “did not know what was going on” and claimed that he had been asleep the whole flight and that his feet were under the seat in front of him.
At the airport, after speaking to Baker, the trooper told him he was free to go and asked him to leave before the woman who accused him of assault because she was still distraught.
This is Charlie Baker, who is the current president of the NCAA. He says that women should find another locker room if they don't want a biological male in their locker room.
