On June 6, 2024, former NBA point guard West was found “unresponsive” following a suspected opioid overdose around 1 am in Groveton, Virginia.
Initially, West was in a chase by the Fairfax County police department but evaded police when the officers attempted to serve him a warrant for violating terms of release.
When he was found unresponsive, police suspected an opioid overdose and administered Narcan after taking him to the local hospital.

However, the first dose of Narcan did not work, and later, the second dose was given, and West gained consciousness.
West was booked in the Fairfax Country Detention Center at 4:35 am with a bond set at $2000.
On the other side of the story about Delonte West being unresponsive, some of the online posts wrote that “Delonte West had passed away,” which is a total hoax.
Indeed, West is not getting on the right path in life after his successful NBA career, but the former player is still alive, wandering in the streets, living his life in his way, and being arrested by police quite often.
Fairfax County Police Department Frequently Reports Delonte West’s Confinement On Various Charges
Delonte West’s first reported known a*rest case was September 17, 2009. He was pulled over for a traffic violation while riding a Can-Am Spyder three-wheeled motorcycle.
Furthermore, police discovered that West had a 9mm Beretta pistol in his waistband, a Ruger .357 Magnum revolver strapped to his leg, and a Remington 879 shotgun in a guitar case.
Then, police immediately arrested him, pleaded guilty to the traffic and weapons charges, and sentenced to electronic monitoring, unsupervised probation, and 40 hours of community service.

Furthermore, in January 2020, a video surfaced online showing West handcuffed on the Washington DC highway.
In the video, West is shirtless on a curb with his hands behind his back and is questioned about an altercation.
Similarly, on September 15, 2022, Delonte West was arrested again in Fairfax County, Virginia, after trying to trespass on a car.
He was booked with multiple charges: vehicle trespassing, entering a vehicle, fleeing from law enforcement, and public intoxication. Again, on June 6, 2024, Delonte West was arrested for similar charges.
On November 2, 2024, 41-years-old Delonte West was arrested and accused of trespassing in Virginia. He was banned from an area in Huntington.
However, a person reported that West failed to leave the area where he was banned. Immediately, the former NBA star was arrested and held on a $1,000 bond.
He was released from custody on November 3 and charged with a misdemeanor. He is due in court for a hearing in January 2025.
