Many people give their blood, sweat, and tears to a specific niche, leaving a lasting impact through their contributions.

One such remarkable individual was the late Randy Wayne Clausen, who, due to his unshakable passion, left an indelible influence on high school athletics.

Born on February 9, 1965, in Minneapolis, the late Randy Clausen dedicated his life as a longtime southwestern Minnesota radio broadcaster.

Clausen developed a zeal for broadcasting and sports journalism from a young age. Hence, he attended Brown Institute to pursue a career in broadcasting.

After graduation, he briefly worked in Beulah, North Dakota. Then he moved to Montevideo, Uruguay, where he worked at many companies, including KDMA, Innovex, and Jennie-O in Willmar.

Clausen eventually moved to Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to work in his hometown, hoping to give back to his community.

He was successful in this endeavor, becoming a familiar voice at KLGR, an AM radio station licensed to Redwood Falls, Minnesota.

For 25 years, Clausen hosted Coach’s Corner, providing play-by-play coverage for high school and regional sports.

Moreover, he was the announcer for the Redwood Speedway, a moderately banked 1/2 mile Dirt Track located on the Redwood County Fairgrounds in Redwood Falls.

Randy loved outdoor activities, especially fishing. The avid fisherman would travel to the Governor’s Fishing Opener yearly and enjoy ice fishing trips with the boys.

Besides fishing, Randy indulged his competitive inclination by playing beanbags, checkers, and other games.

Likewise, he was equally devoted to his home life, and everyone in his family and community adored him.

His sudden demise has disheartened everyone. After his passing, it became clear how much Clausen had impacted others.

Many of his well-wishers and regular listeners expressed their grief. They paid tribute to him through messages of sympathy, condolences, and unwavering respect.

Randy recently celebrated his 60th birthday on February 9, 2025, and expressed happiness at receiving countless lovely birthday wishes.

But, unbeknownst to everyone, it was his last birthday, as he died of natural causes at home on February 15, 2025.

Randy’s Late Wife, Kathryn, Fought A Grueling and Long Battle With Several Fatal Diseases

Late Randy Clausen married the love of his life, Kathryn Jo Paradis, on August 11, 2001.

While there is scarce information about their married life, Kathryn sadly passed away on December 8, 2017, seven years before her husband, Randy.

After extensive research, we stumbled upon a fundraiser for Kathyrn to raise funds for her treatment.

According to the gofundme fundraiser, the goal was to raise $5K. However, they could only raise funds to $2,695.

Kathyrn Clausen lived a painful life, battling with Diabetes and Vascular Disease, which has caused her to have both legs amputated and numerous surgeries.

Since these conditions led to fluid problems that affected her heart and lungs, she was on life support.

However, the infection did not end there, as Kathryn sustained Congestive Heart and Kidney Failure.

Hence, Randy and the family had to make a devastating decision to take Kathy off of life support on December 8, 2017.

Her very little brain activity and deteriorating condition made doctors conclude that there was no chance for Kathy to come out of her condition.

While Randy has passed away now, leaving behind his loved ones, he is finally resting alongside his beloved wife.

His sisters, Shelly Clausen (North Mankato), Kimberly Jason Knacke (Darwin), and Amy Josh McCabe (North Mankato), are mourning his sudden demise.

Randy was very close with Shelly, who works at School Sisters Of Notre Dame Good Counsel Hill.

On Monday, February 24, at 10:30 a.m., St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls will host his memorial services.

In addition to his sisters, the late Randy Clausen is survived by his siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and uncle.
