Michael Ray Richardson, the late American professional basketball player and head coach, had a son named Amir Richardson and a daughter named Tasha Richardson.
Amir Richardson, a Professional Soccer player, was born on January 24, 2002, in Nice, France.
He developed in French youth systems before breaking into senior football and moving up to one of Europe’s top leagues.
Richardson, 23, currently plays for the Serie A Team Fiorentina and the Morocco National Team.
He completed spells at AS Fontonne Antibes and OGC Nice as a youngster, finished his development at Le Havre, and made his professional debut there on May 15, 2021.
A Professional Like His Father
After earning regular minutes at Le Harve, he moved to Ligue 1’s club Stade de Reims, before signing with Fiorentina in August 2024. He has appeared in over 125 matches combined for the three Clubs.
In an interview with American Soccer Now, Michael Ray Richardson shared his admiration for Amir’s maturity and focus, “He’s got a good head on his shoulders. He’s not going to make the same mistakes I did.”
On the international stage, he played for France’s youth teams but switched allegiance to Morocco in 2023, joining their U23 Team and then the senior setup.
This was possible, thanks to his mother, Ilham Ngadi, who was born in Morocco. Ngadi and Ray met in France, where he was spending his post-NBA career, by playing for teams including Olympique Antibes and CSP Limoges.
His NBA career was cut short after he was found guilty of drug violations in 1986. He moved to Europe in 1988 and played for numerous teams across France, Italy, and Croatia.
On the other hand, Michael Ray Richardson’s daughter, Tasha Richardson, has kept her life more private.
However, according to IMDB, she has appeared in “Whatever Happened to Michael Ray?”, a 30-minute documentary, released in 2000. Before Ray’s passing, he occasionally mentioned her in interviews as well.
