Jowon Briggs is currently on cloud nine, after his move to the New York Jets was confirmed on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and after becoming a father for the fourth time.
The Jets traded Jown and a 2026 seventh-round pick for a 2026 sixth-round pick. He will play alongside the likes of Quinnen Williams and Byron Cowart.
Great Career, Even Better Family
To get into the NFL, he started his career at the University of Virginia in 2019. After a couple of seasons with the Virginia Cavaliers, he transferred to the University of Cincinnati due to family reasons, which suggests he wanted to be closer to his wife.
While playing for the Beercats, he also had a key role in their 2021 College Football Playoff run. The couple graduated at the same time, and they have been together for almost seven years.
He was also named captain of the University and earned his first Team All-AAC honors in 2022. By the end of his University Carrer, Jwon Briggs already had two kids, Jowon Jr., Reine, and Zane.
“It’s a big thing to have your why, and it’s a really big thing to love football, but it’s a little bit different when you have somebody else depending on you, and I got four people depending on me immediately,” Jowon said in May 2024. But Jowon, the number has increased now!
After the 2023 season, Jowon was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 7th round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Though he just appeared in six games, he has a decent career for a rookie, recording 13 tackles.

In case you didn’t know, Jowon is more than just a family man and an athlete, too. According to him, he is also a musician, is proficient in multiple coding languages, also knows various languages, and has even worked as a manager.
Surprisingly, he has also tried coaching at the Gorlion Footbal Training in his life even though he is quite young.
After years of hard work, balancing family life and his professional life, he hopes to make his first season appearance for the Jets against the Bengals on September 7.
As this is his second season with an NFL team, he hopes to be more involved, unlike his previous season.
