Jake Paul’s controversial win over Mike Tyson has attracted global attention. Millions of people watched it, but most viewers were disappointed with what they saw on a rough night of boxing
Recently, the YouTube star turned boxer has been facing criticism and is accused of breaking the rules during the fight with the 58-year-old boxing legend.
Former boxing champion Tony Bellew recently took to social media and criticized Paul for wearing “full-on puncher’s gloves” during his victory over Iron Mike.
Highlights
- Jake Paul is accused of cheating and breaking rules, which gave him a huge advantage.
- Tony Bellew believes Paul’s gloves gave him an unfair advantage, as they are designed to deliver harder punches compared to the more padded gloves Tyson wore.
- Their fight was speculated to be scripted based on unverified documents previously surfaced online.
Before the match, there were rumors that the fight would be scripted. The speculation started after an unverified document that had surfaced on social media.
This document detailed a round-by-round prediction, suggesting Paul would win by knockout.
However, the actual result was different. Paul won by points after eight disappointing rounds.
As reported by Archie Griggs of the Express, the fight was so dull that it seemed like no one could have planned it to be this boring. It ended up being more about Paul’s ego at the expense of a boxing legend.
Griggs also said that anyone hoping for a Tyson win was being very optimistic or naive.
He never had a real chance against a man half of his age and a fitter opponent, no matter his boxing skills.
Tony Bellew Accuses Jake Paul’s Gloves Gave Him ‘Huge Advantages’
The former WBC cruiserweight titleholder Tony Bellew believes that Jake Paul’s gloves gave him an unfair advantage.

Tyson ignored many chances to knock out Jake & he threw fewer punches than he is known to do.
He must've been paid really well for this fight.

Bellew noted that Tyson’s gloves seemed heavily padded while Jake Paul wore puncher’s gloves, which are designed to deliver harder hits.
Bellew believes this made a huge difference, even though he was just watching from his bed.
Like many netizens and boxing fans, the former boxer also criticized the idea of the fight itself.
He said that everyone is to blame for the situation because they keep talking about and watching these matches.
Tony urged people to stop supporting Paul until he fights someone who is fit, healthy, and not much older.
Moreover, Bellew admitted he had some respect for Jake. After the fight, Paul, 27, stated that he held back during the match to avoid seriously hurting Tyson.
Bellew acknowledged this by saying that while he didn’t like Paul, he appreciated that Paul showed respect and didn’t go for a knockout, allowing Tyson to finish the fight.
Fans Also Took To Social Media To Voice Their Dissatisfaction
It is not only Tony Bellew who has criticized Paul.
Many boxing fans and online users took to social media to voice their displeasure with the outcome and with the former YouTuber’s scheduling strategy.
Most of Paul’s opponents have been retired MMA fighters. Tyson is also a boxer whose last win came more than two decades ago.
I can't believe I watched that. Tyson is a legend but he's old. Jake Paul needs to fight someone his own age. I could beat Bob Cousy one on one NOW.

Paul’s only fight against a full-time boxer came last year, when he lost in a split decision to Tommy Fury.
Given this, netizens called on Jake to start fighting against active, full-time boxers.
“I can’t believe I watched that. Tyson is a legend but he’s old. Jake Paul needs to fight someone his own age. I could beat Bob Cousy one on one NOW,” wrote Sam Morril on X.
